Publisher's Summary

The second book in the Filthy Trilogy - Eric and Harper's story continues....

He's the bastard of the empire, a savant, a genius, and a self-made success. He left it all behind, but he came back for her.

Their passion is a flame that ignites more than their bond. It ignites secrets, lies, and a puzzle that once solved, will shake them to the core. You know one deep, dark secret, but you do not yet know anywhere near everything.

DNF So repetitive

Ugghhh I struggled through the repetitiveness of the first one and gave this one a go. There’s just so much internal monologue followed by exactly the same spoken monologue. Whhhyyyt???? I just don’t care about the end of the story. Have stopped at 85% and returned both.

THIS BOOK WORE ME OUT!

I was so excited to get to the second book, but same old same old. I did not need an explanation on how he makes her feel every two minutes.

Duhhhhh

So repetitive, I trust you, I believe you, I love you, your not a Kingston, a bastard, nor a princess. But wait let tell you that again & again I different ways. Then there the "we have to talk, I tell him/her because it sooo important" yet the story never gets to that point. I felt like being in a never ending loop of the same/similar passive aggressive scenario.

Needs a really strong edit

This is an interesting story premise and in better hands, it could have been really excellent. The problem is, no one appears to have edited the book! A good editor would have fixed the extensive problems in the writing.

Now, if the only reason you read this book is for the MANY descriptive angry sex scenes then don't read the rest of my review. Most of what happens in there is leading up to the next moment when they have sex. And they do it a LOT.

The story drags on and on and on, not because it isn't a good story but because the author puts too much repetition in it. Everyone is "affected" by things all the time. Eric constantly traps her against doors to talk to her about things which always leads to crazy forceful sex. Every movement they make is stated. For example, Harper goes into the bathroom to change her clothes she decides to use the closet in the back to put her clothes away so she walks to the back and sits down and gets into her bag and rummages around to find the new cell phone box and pulls it out and turns it on and sees there's only enough charge to actually see that it can turn on and finds a charger to plug the cord into and pulls the cord out and plugs it in to charge her phone and sits and waits for it to charge and then checks her voicemail. That's incredibly annoying! It is not necessary to tell every movement when so much is normal behavior for people. Just say Harper went into the bathroom to change her clothes. She plugged her new phone into the charger and checked her voicemails.

One aspect of good writing is to know how to move the story along. If you give details of someone's movements, there needs to be a payoff. This author likes to lead up to what should be something BECAUSE of the lead up but then fizzles out into nothing.

Also, Harper and Eric have the same conversations over and over and over. Nothing is resolved. And yes, that happens in real life all the time but we don't read books to see real life. We read books to ESCAPE from real life!

With a good editor, the entire series could be condensed down to one enthralling and amazing book.

The two readers are amazing. Their voices are perfect for this type of story. Erin Mallon has a strong, sexy alto voice and she does really, really well for the voice of Harper. Also, her male voices sound sexy. Not all female readers can do that but she does it really well.

Jason Clarke just gives me happy shivers to listen to. The only reason I even listened as long as I did to this badly written book was to hear his voice.

And now, I'm going to go look for another book that Jason Clarke narrates just so I can listen to that lovely, sexy bass voice.

CLIFFHANGER WARNING!! But Amazing Book Series!

So so good I just love the characters and the narrators did amazing job! But why why the cliffhanger again!! I don't think I will survive the wait for the next book to come out on Audible. Just kidding! 😀 I will recommend this book series but if you don't like cliffhangers you might want to wait for the last book to come out before you listen

Exhausted!

I really got tired of the constant sound of stress in her voice and repeating their need to talk!

Could have been a great listen...

I really struggled to finish this book. The plot was intriguing, which is really the only reason I did finish it, but the writing itself was really poor. Each "sex scene" was just a regurgitation of the first intimate scene in the book. There were several phrases that were repeated so often they became the point where I skipped to the next chapter. The heroine has way too much internal dialogue... she keeps going over and over the same things. If the redundant "thinking" parts were cut, this book could have easily made this a two-book series. The female narrator, who I normally enjoy, is so breathy and overly dramatic it became kind of painful to listen to her. The male narrator was at the opposite end of the spectrum but it was his narration that made it so I could finish the book.

Insert HARD eye roll here....

UGH...this story is just way to overly dramatic for me. Ok, we get it you’re a Bastard, do we have to hear about it like a million times. The two characters just grated on my nerves the entire book. Even though really was just listening to this for background noise while I worked; goodness knows I was so glad when it was over.

All fluff

In all reality you can completely skip this book... Nothing really happened. You could combine this book and the next one into about 3 hours. I wanted to love this book... The fact he went back for her made me fall in love with them but it just gets to much this story was definitely not a 3 book series 2 yes not 3

2nd book is draining

After the 1st book I was excited for the next. However I was disappointed in the repetition of Harper, took me forever to finish and I actually wasn’t sure I’d make it through to the end.
