Andalites must always hold themselves apart, even from their allies. As the Animorphs' past actions start resulting in deaths of innocent people, however, Ax's loyalty is called into question. Story
There's something pretty weird going on in the woods behind Cassie's house, the place where Ax and Tobias call home. It seems the Yeerks have figured out one very important fact: Andalites cannot survive without a feeding ground. Visser Three knows the "Andalite bandits" don't feed where he does, so there can only be one other place. Now the Animorphs have to figure out a way to stop a bogus logging operation. Because if Visser Three finds Ax in the woods, nothing will stop him from finding the Animorphs.

No one's sure, but Rachel and the other Animorphs have to figure it out - quickly. Because if someone sees Rachel's out-of-control morphing, the other Animorphs are in for some serious trouble.

Story
Tobias has gotten used to his new life. He's a red-tailed hawk with the mind of a kid. It was difficult when he first became trapped in his morph, but he's started to come to terms with things. After all, how many kids actually get the chance to fly? But now Tobias is about to make a very difficult choice: a choice that the other Animorphs know nothing about. And it could mean the difference between living the rest of his life as a hawk...and being human.
Publisher's Summary
Marco never wanted to be an Animorph. He didn't want the ability to change into any animal he touches. And he certainly didn't want to be one of a handful of kids that are the planet's only defense against a secret alien army. His friends know why he feels the way he does. He's worried about his dad - the only family Marco has left. If anything happens to him, his father will be alone. But something big is about to change for Marco. Something that could finally give him a reason to fight.

Wow
I read these books when they were brand new so it's been a ton of fun to listen to them with my kids. I think this one has the best narrator (Tobias is way to quit and introverted to be a good audiobook reader, took the character a bit too literally) and this story was powerful because I've been a father about 9 years now. I could feel the emotions of the story a lot more clearly. Science fiction is fun but retaining that basic conflict of grief and fear of causing grief in Marco's life really puts the alien invasion elements in a different light. I hope this series can record a few of the megamorphs too. How about a Netflix original animated version!

Animorphs is Back!
I’m a huge fan of Animorphs — I have been for as long as I can remember, but being able to experience Animorphs in this new medium has been absolutely amazing! The audiobooks for Animorphs are a great way to visit an old favorite.

Lets keep this series going!
What can I say? I'm a life long fan. I love the story and where the characters first began. The only reason I am giving the performance 4 stars is because the voice actor makes Marco & Ax sound much much older than they actually are. But given this is his first Marco narrated book, there's always room for group given they release more audiobooks. I really hope they do!

the first book where the title makes no sense
It's kind of a tradition how some of these titles are so disconnected from the story! My understanding is Applegate had no control over that.
The ant sequence is still a nightmare that I enjoy greatly, and the twist at the end remains very messed up and fun.
It's weird how Ocampo's Ax voice sounds so Dan Green, like a pompous, boisterous older adult, when in this book he's very much a child messing up and is even called out as being 'a little one'. Given how he's voiced in other books I suppose that's just the angle this series is taking?

Yeesh, and I felt sorry for Tobias.
Marco has it worse than the others, even Jake. His mother's a Controller as well, not good for moral. Ramon is hilarious as Marco. Having heard of him as Jughead, he's quickly becoming a favorite of mine.
