About this listen

"My father had more than 50 children."

So begins the haunting memoir of Anna LeBaron, daughter of the notorious polygamist and murderer Ervil LeBaron. With her father wanted by the FBI for killing anyone who tried to leave his cult - a radical branch of Mormonism - Anna and her siblings were constantly on the run with the other sister-wives. Often starving and always desperate, the children lived in terror. Even though there were dozens of them together, Anna always felt alone.

She escaped when she was 13 - but the nightmare was far from over.

A shocking true story of murder, fear, and betrayal, The Polygamist's Daughter is also the heart-cry of a fatherless girl and her search for love, faith, and a safe place to call home.

Shocking story - and very interesting and engaging truth. The author's narration style is a bit stilted and doesn't flow very smoothly however as its her own story, that's perhaps understandable! Would definitely recommend.

Shocking but compelling!

Fascinating and sad life story of child slavery. neglect, poverty & abuse,

Horrible story, happy ending (the last portion of her story contains her journey to emotional healing).

I highly recommend for teens, and some pre-teens.

No swearing, Most of the book details her sad childhood, but some parts include suicides and arranged murders that though not blood thirsty, could be scary for some preteens. The book mentions the word 'sex' briefly once, and talks about a couple of brief situations that looked like could turn into rape but did not, That situation wasnt too sexualised.

Fascinating Life story.

Gently narrated even though the story is horrific at times. Amazing journey through horrid circumstances to triumph over adversity and grace ultimately found.
