This is my first DS Cross book and I thought it was a great story with well developed and interesting characters. I found Tim Sullivan’s portrayal of the quirky DS Cross a real delight and his sidekick Ottey the perfect partner to bring balance to their professional relationship. You have another fan now Tim Sullivan. Narration by Finlay Robertson was terrific too

I found this a fascinating novel to listen to - the crime story dropped into the background and we found out so much more about DS George Cross. It was written so sensitively - his Asperges issues are taken as a norm of his character, enabling Tim Sullivan, the author to reveal things in a typical peremptory manner, whilst revealing other complexities of such a person. The other characters in the book also play important parts in assisting our discovery of not only George's character but also the perpetrator of the crime. Other side plots are fascinating. The narration reflected the awkwardness of George's character too. Thank you for such a great series!.
