Publisher's Summary

A provocative, comprehensive analysis of Vladimir Putin and Russia's master plan to destroy democracy in the age of Donald Trump.

In the greatest intelligence operation in the history of the world, Donald Trump was made president of the United States with the assistance of a foreign power. For the first time, The Plot to Destroy Democracy reveals the dramatic story of how blackmail, espionage, assassination, and psychological warfare were used by Vladimir Putin and his spy agencies to steal the 2016 US election - and attempted to bring about the fall of NATO, the European Union, and western democracy. It will show how Russia and its fifth column allies tried to flip the cornerstones of democracy in order to reengineer the world political order that kept most of the world free since since 1945.

Career US Intelligence officer Malcolm Nance will examine how Russia has used cyberwarfare, political propaganda, and manipulating our perception of reality - and will use it again - to weaponize American news, traditional media, social media, and the workings of the Internet to attack and break apart democratic institutions from within and what we can expect to come should we fail to stop their next attack.

In his 35-year career in intelligence, Nance specialized in cryptology, national security policy, counter-terrorism intelligence. He has utilized top secret Russian-sourced political and hybrid warfare strategy documents to demonstrate the master plan to undermine American institutions that has been in effect from the Cold War to the present day. Based on original research and countless interviews with espionage experts, Nance examines how Putin's recent hacking accomplished a crucial first step for destabilizing the West for Russia, why Putin is just the man to do it.

Nance has been called to testify before Congress and advise House and Senate Intelligence Committee members on the details of the election meddling. In this audiobook, he exposes how Russia has supported the campaigns of right-wing extremists throughout both the US and Europe to leverage an axis of autocracy, and how Putin's agencies have worked since 2010 to bring fringe candidate Donald Trump into elections.

Revelatory, insightful, and shocking, The Plot to Destroy Democracy puts a professional spy lens on Putin's plot and unravels it play-by-play. In the end, he provides a better understanding of why Putin's efforts are a serious threat to our national security and global alliances - in much more than one election - and a blistering indictment of Putin's puppet, President Donald J. Trump.

Book gives historical context to modern events

Everyone should listen to this book. Guard yourself against the disinformation attacks lead by Russia by knowing how they operate and what their goals are.

We Need to Regain Control of Our Country

I've said since 2016, as things have gotten worse and worse, stranger and stranger, that if anyone had written a book about it in the past, I'd have thought it too unbelievable even for fiction, and wanted my money back. Sadly, this is not fiction. What keeps it from looking like another conspiracy theory is 1) The knowledge, experience, and trustworthiness of Malcolm Nance and 2) We're seeing it happen right in front of our eyes. And despite what the usurper tells us, I WILL believe what I see.

We wonder why the GOP Congress is not doing its check and balance job. The fact is that Russia set this in motion years ago. Many in the GOP have been compromised, and are therefore being complicit with Putin's agenda. I highly recommend that you read this book for the details of how this mess was brought about. It's well written and well narrated, and very informative.

We must vote in the 2018 midterms and take back Congress so we can take back our country!

I read this book and thought is was good but a little bit “conspiracy theory” . Then I watched the Putin/Trump press conference! Everything he predicted would happen is starting to happen. Help!

Wow!

This is a fantastic, important and scary book. If only 50% of it is true (and I have no reason to doubt any of it), this country is in serious trouble. It will take the will of ALL of the people to fix it.

A Compelling Report

It's impossible to finish this book without respect for Nance's detailed histories and understanding of the Russian spy-mind. Putin's motives and the Russian investment in developing Trump leads one to an inevitable conclusion. An important book for these times.

A must perspective you won’t get anywhere else.

Malcom Nance spent a good deal of his career in Naval Intelligence & later the CIA and knows Russia likely as well as any American. More specifically, he is intimately familiar with the entire history USA-Russia, USA-USSR, and now United States and Russian Federation as well as speaks the language, and studied an intelligence adversary that also happens to be the President... face it, the Tsar of Russia.

The beauty of this book is it’s a compliment to his first book on the topic, the Plot to Hack America. This book is the wide-angle, complete view of the Forrest while the other book was a fascinating and informative almost play-by-play that gives a detailed but comprehensive look at the trees.
A perspective from 30,000 feet that ONLY Mr. Nance or someone with an identical background could provide.

This one is a must if you want to know the back story and learn so much more about the matter than you think you can having followed it for nearly two years and watched the current president implement policies you would think he is taking directly off Vladimir Putin’s wish list. Malcom Nance is an excellent communicator and tells you the whole story in a readable, cohesive narrative with nary a wasted word. Well done yet again, sir.
Thank you for your decades of sacrifice and service!

Jesus H Christ. Terrifying.

A very cool-headed approach to a heavy subject. If the author has a point of view outside of this book (spoiler, he does) it is not evident in this very fact-based book. The content covers information of which you might be marginally aware - i.e. Putin is a scheming, power hungry force who has infiltrated democracies around the world. But it's more revealing than other books in that it is grounded in documented evidence. This is an important read.

Naive approach in telling “facts”

So the writer is trying to blame every single problem in the western political atmosphere on the Russians, he talks very highly of American values (although nowadays I am not very sure what that means).
His view of international American policy (in my view) is very naive- typical: we are the good guys and they are the bad ones- the USA is certainly just another country that has to fight to protect its own interests around the world using different excuses to affect how things are run on international arena (using freedom, democracy, other big words as a guise to hide the intentions)
Russian policy and American one have the same goals, they use similar means but call them different names!

Disappointed

I was looking forward to listening to this as I'm convinced trump is compromised by the Russians.
In this era of fake news and the importance of getting facts correct,I absolutely lost interest and lost any credibility in the author when he got two important facts wrong.
1. He claimed that Putin channeled $500 billion to the Ukrainian government to help his puppet retain power...that's just ridiculous.
2.He stated that flight MH17 was shot down in 2017 when in fact it was 2014

Once you get basic facts wrong you lose me and I understandably wonder what other facts are wrong

Very disappointing
