Cringeworthy Narration

The story was actually quite mediocre but what made it truly awful was Anna Friel’s narration with the constant wet swallowing and lip smacking. It made me feel nauseous. Her phrasing was poor as was her pronunciation of certain words. Just dreadful!

"Read it" she said, "you'll love it" she said

I did not. I was driving across the Nullabor and thought this would help the time pass quicker. It did not. My friend said the narrator's voice was annoying at first but would fit the profile at some point. It did not.

Narrators mouth noises off putting

Gripping storyline but the noises the narrators mouth makes after every sentence was so off putting I had to have volume on slow so I could drown them out. That aside... persevered and great overall story.

starts of strong... but doesnt follow through

The story had a lot of promise but many "twists" were predictable and weak ending .

3*

A bit of a far fetched and unbelievable thriller.

Normally I really like Anna Friel - but her Audio performance here was terrible. Making it even harder to listen to

Great story, gripping although slightly concerning

Great story, if you can get past the first few chapters of the narrators saliva noises, it gets better by chapter 4. Gripping story with a decent twist concerning mental health challenges exposed although relatable actions of lost loves.

Story okay, narrator not!

The story wasn’t bad but the constant wet lip smacking & swallowing by the narrator made me want to scream at her in frustration to shut up!!!
Makes me wonder if authors listen to the stories before unleashing on the ears of listeners?! It can really ruin the listening experience. This has put me off buying any books narrated by Anna Friel.

I really enjoyed this book

Excellent I really enjoyed this book! The story line was good and lead up the only thing I was a little disappointed with the ending as it all ended so quickly with no follow through! It would be nice to have 1 more chapter to hear the happily ever after!

Worth a read, pretty compelling story.

This is a very easy listen and it was hard to stop once you start. I don't get any of the issues with the narrator that some people did. There were a few bits where she slightly miss-spoke but it just added to it really. Great easy listen which is just what i needed.

The ending didn't do the story justice unless it's setting up a second book but it was fine. It seemed to rush through it and could have been another hour of the story about what happened next.
