About this listen

Daisy Parker’s life is imperfect, but it’s better than she could ever have imagined. Born in a Victorian workhouse, Daisy grew up knowing little other than discipline and desperate need. It is sweet and kind Bart Parker who changes her life by marrying her, giving her everything she holds most dear: a cozy home, a beautiful baby girl named Fannie, and a husband who truly loves her.

But smallpox takes everything from Daisy in one terrible instant. She finds herself on the streets, dragging Bart’s handcart with Fannie inside, embarking on a desperate struggle for survival – not only for herself, but for her daughter. Allies are few and far between on London’s brutal streets. Daisy will need every scrap of her love and courage to survive—but maybe the love of a mysterious peddler with soft gray eyes can turn things back around for her….

This was quite a sad story. showed how women of that area were treated. Storyline was alright to listen to. Found some of the narration annoying.

An ok story.
