Publisher's Summary

All towns have secrets. But none like Netherwell Bay....

"Sis, I’m in trouble. Real trouble. And I need help."

After receiving a worrying message from her estranged brother, Beth Davis sets out to find and help him, ending up in the strange, coastal town of Netherwell Bay.

There, she begins to witness terrifying and unexplainable things, and reports of ritualistic murders have the town panicked.

A sinister cult soon makes its presence known, and the dark history of Netherwell Bay is unveiled. Beth then finds herself in a race against time to stop a doorway to Hell from opening...permanently.

The Netherwell Horror is a Lovecraftian mystery that quickly descends into madness, sickening violence, and chaos. Fans of Silent Hill will love this nightmarish tale, but those of a squeamish disposition need not apply....

Wonderfully gory heartbreaking mess

So first off, the story involves a dog but it survives till the end so Lee gets bonus points for that. Secondly, if you follow his other stories this GREATLY expands his universe and leaves me wanting so, so, SOOOO much more!! This is not a happy book, but that’s what you should expect from Mr Mountford by now. I call his books “GOT but for horror” because NO ONE is safe. My only issue is it’s a slow start, but ends with a bang

A True Horror

I totally enjoyed this book about a sister Beth who receives call from her brother Josh and goes to help him in Netherwell Bay. But finds out things she never dreamed of cults, monsters and demons but loves him to try and save him. It has great descriptions that can nauseate you (do not read or listen when eating) especially toward the end. Highly recommend if you enjoy a good demonic horror and his Supernatural Horror Collection!

It's just gore and shock value

This book relies on gore and not much more. The story is weak and juvenile

Pretty good!

I'd only recommend this if you enjoy gore because this is GORY!! I enjoy listening to Hannibal Hills a lot. Hm and Lee Mountford seem to work very well together! I swear, Hills has a voice made for horror audiobooks!!

Didn't quite scratch my horror itch

i love the author's sensory description and landscape illustration, but the performance seemed over-done in voices and tone. The story wasn't terribly compelling, but overall i didn't hate it.

Small Town Mystery

Been a huge fan of Lee Mountford’s horror stories and up until this book, I have loved them all. There wasn’t anything wrong with this story, I just didn’t find it up to the same level of his others. I felt like the book was more of a mystery thriller that had some horror elements to it. I didn’t dislike the story and this isn’t a negative review, I think this just wasn’t as scary as most of his other books. I enjoyed the mystery of Beth looking for her brother in the small town. Beth’s character was great and I really liked her as a person. She was well developed and personable enough that I became attached to her quite quickly. The setting was quite enjoyable and I really liked to hear about the different inhabitants. Beth researching into the disappearance of her brother and the secrets of the town seemed to really take over the story. I enjoyed those aspects, but they didn’t really leave me on the edge of my seat as I am used to with Mountford stories. It wasn’t until the end that the horror really picked up and once it did it was hard and heavy. As he does with all of his narration, Hannibal Hills continues to bring the story to life. I love his character voices, especially the demon, and the emotion he puts into the characters. If you want to be taken for a ride on a suspenseful thriller, look no further. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.

I'm sorry this book is trash

I see what the author was trying to do. But overall the story felt like a wishy-washy watered down attempted mix of Silent Hill and HP Lovecraft. I couldnt finish it, I forced myself through the chapters because I had hopes for it but in all honesty dont waste your time, I dont remember much of what I read since I stopped listening to the audiobook a month or so back, but literally the only memorial thing I can think of about the main character is her getting wasted. There's more time and detail being placed into how much of a mess she is than the story itself. No thanks.

Gruesomely Average

This book had a good start but later on couldn’t decide what it wanted to be. At some parts it was trying to be a Lovecraft story and the other it was just gore for nothing but shock effect. It was predictable but towards the end things mixed up a bit. The narrator on the other hand was perfect for this story. This book is if you are starting to get into horror it’s a decent introduction

More love for the Lovecraftian universe!

I loved this book. If you like Shadow Over Innsmouth; or Lovecraft period, you will love this.

Awful, just awful

Terrible writing with worse narration. Never got beyond the first few chapters. Narrators supposed accent and female voice characterisation were laughable.

Very disappointing.

I enjoyed the previous books by this author, but this is no where near the standard or quality of previous writings and even the narrator seems to enjoy taking the mickey by his massively over dramatized delivery. Overly cliched. Not good enough.
