Publisher's Summary

From the New York Times best-selling author of The Good Sister and The Mother-in-Law with new novel The Younger Wife out now.

Three women, one girl and the vow that binds them.

Alice and her daughter Zoe have been a team of two all their lives. They've never needed anyone else - until Alice gets sick.

Alice reaches out to two near-strangers: Kate, her oncology nurse, and Sonja, her social worker. As the lives of the three women become inextricably tied, a chain of events is set into motion, forcing them to confront their deepest fears and secrets.

Imbued with heart and humour in even the darkest moments, The Mother's Promise is an unforgettable novel about the strength of a mother's love.

Don't read if you don't want to cry!

Well written and enjoyable story, but not the choice if you need to escape or need a pick me up.

A disappointing Sally Hepworth

Given Hepworth is Australian, it’s unusual that the book is set in America with an American narrator.
I found the story quite bland. The feel of the audio was melancholy and monotone. I didn’t really enjoy it. The narrator was very good and consistent with the voices of the different characters.
