Publisher's Summary

They're the best of friends or the worst of friends. Neither one is letting go.

The flame.

Here lies Louchana Valentine. She was a homeless, orphaned virgin.

I never cared what my gravestone would say until I landed in deep with a powerful gangster. Lucky for me, my best friend happens to be ruthless, too. I should feel guilty that he's forced to turn on the man who's been a father to him. Except I've always known that Wren's soul wasn't as black as he claimed.

He was good.
He was beautiful.
He was mine.
He just didn't know it yet.

And with Wren keeping me safe, I've got time left to rewrite the end of my story. But if he has his way, virgin is already carved in stone.

The moth.

I've never known anyone as alluring as Lou. Or as frustrating. Since the night she saved my life and stole my wallet for her troubles, I couldn't stay away.

She became my onus.
My light.
My...anyway.

With nowhere to run, I'm forced to trust someone I never expected. At least with Lou safe in Blackwood Keep - far away from me - I'll die with my conscience intact. Because she no longer looks at me with friendship in her eyes. Those iridescent blues shine with a different need entirely, and I've never been able to deny her.

This second installment in the When Rivals Play series is a continuation of the events that occurred in The Peer and the Puppet. Content suitable for ages 18 and up.

Another winner for BB

I loved this book. In true B.B. style, I was engrossed in this book from start to finish. I wanted to throw a tantrum there wasn't more to read. even though it was finished beautifully, I can just never get enough of the world's B.B creates. Or the delicious men in them. can't wait for the next.

What's mine is mine forever!

omg hearing this book in audio was so good! The story was great and the narrators were perfect. I loved every minute of it. Lu and Ren come at each other like a moth to a flame! Their love and friendship for one another is strong. The story of exhiled is slowly unraveling and more secrets come out. This series has quickly become one of my favorites. Can't wait to get the next book!

B.B. Reid does it again.

So I do not leave a lot of reviews, so when I do it's because they are earned. I read this book on my kindle when it first came out, but could not get the story out of my head. Listening to it while I am in the car, working out at the gym, or even sitting at my desk at work was perfect. The narrators voices (to me) matched the voices of Lou and Wren perfectly. I even didn't mind when the female had to have a male voice, or when the man needed to have a females voice. It all turned out perfect. I recommend listening to this book over and over again. This is easily becoming one of my favorite series to read and listen to. Can't wait for more.

Awesome book audio!

Great audio book! Performances are great! Love this book so much! Wren and Lou have so much chemistry between them. Each of their stories will pull at your heartstrings! B. B. Is an awesome writer and she pulls you in with the angst and suspense! If you have read or listened to The Peer and the Puppet then you will definitely want to pick up this audio! Teddy Hamilton is one of my fave male audio performers and he brings Wren’s character to life. Muffy is new to me but she is awesome!

Unstoppable and all consuming!

I'm not sure that I'll say anything that hasn't already been said, but man oh man. B.B. Reid is one of my favorite authors and then add you add audio with two of my favorite narrators, Muffy Newtown and Teddy Hamilton, you've got me hooked.

The Moth and the Flame is such an angsty slow-burn delight. Muffy Newtown and Teddy Hamilton really brought Lou and Wren to life in the most amazing ways. There's a lot of action and intensity in this book and the narrators execute everything flawlessly.

I love this book so much that it was super hard to stop listening to do things like work or make dinner because it was so INTENSE that even though I had already read the book I couldn't stop listening. I can't wait for the next book in this series!

LOVED IT!!

The Moth and the Flame audiobook is absolutley stunning!! I love the narrator choices that B.B. Reid has picked for us. Teddy Hamilton and Muffy Newtown have become quick favorites of mine. They were so easy to listen to and made this EPIC story come to life.

I love all of B.B. Reid's work. She is such a talented author and this book shows it! It's the second book in the, When Rivals Play series. If you enjoyed The Peer and the Puppet, then you won't want to miss out on Lou and Wren's story.

Lou is a beautiful, snarky, spitfire, that you can't help but cheer on and Wren is the sexy, strong, brooding alpha type, who fights for dominance in their relationship. I love the witty banter and sarcasm between our two 'besties'. Plus, all of your favorite characters from The Peer and the Puppet come out to play!

The story is action packed, with well written characters and the plot will leave you dying for more. Oh! Did I mention all the steamy scenes, that leave you... ;) extra satisfied?! Yep, those are there too! I highly recommend this audiobook! You will not be disappointed!!!

BB Reid is a requirement of any romance library.

I have all released books in the When Rivals Play series so far and the audio books to go with each. Even the FREE podcast for Evermore from Read Me Romance. Every one is worth it. Every one is excellent. These are the type of books that you need in either ebook or paperback which ever you prefer AND in audio! That way you can play with them in the daytime and dream with them at night. So save your pennies ladies. The audio books were home runs. Evermore is free on podcast and it is absolutely amazing as well. The whole world is absorbing. Each couple and each book in its own right is its own story but never neglects to tie to the one that came before and the one that's coming after. BB and her narrators always make me feel like I'm standing right there in that world instead of just a reader holding a book. Lost in the moment. Just how I like it. The Broken Love series is one of my all time favorites and when you love something that much you're always afraid that the author will disappoint you somehow in the future. BB has never let me down.

I fell in love with this story again

I had read the paperback version of The Moth and the Flame so I was excited to listen to the audiobook. I'll be honest, I'm not a super big audiobook fan but Muffy Newtown and Teddy Hamilton always do such a good job. I love Teddys voice when he reads the male parts. Listening to the audiobook made me fall in love with Wren and Lou all over again.

Smiled from start to finish

When I read The Peer And The Puppet, I became obsessed with the side characters. You didn't get much of Wren and Lou in TPATP, but the crumbs you did get were enough to make me desperate to read this. When I discovered who was doing the audio, I was even more determined that this was how I would consume this story. Both Muffy Newtown and Teddy Hamilton are some of my favourite audiobook narrators and they really brought The Moth And The Flame to life. This was a sweet best friends to lovers romance that has an edge that I've almost come to crave from B.B. Reid. It was high intensity and there was angst, not just from Wren and Lou, but sprinkled from the other characters since this books timeline runs concurrently with TPATP. I lived for the crumbs of stories to come, but I'm a glutton like that. I desperately want to hold out for the audio of The Punk And The Plaything, but I don't think I have it in me to wait that long since Barbie and Jamie's story is one I've been obsessed with since I picked this series up.
