Publisher's Summary

In this epic culmination of the series, in a war in which thousands are dying, Desil must protect the only thing that can stop the massacre. But there is little he can do with only two allies. They must somehow elude their many enemies while figuring out how to unite their comrades, who face seemingly insurmountable challenges of their own. There is no room for error, no time to hide. The only way success even seems possible is with a plan that might just destroy part of Desil’s world.

An excellent story with a very good narrator.

This series is very good & the last book doesn't disappoint either. Some of the characters are from the previous series & what a welcome they are to see now that they are older. its exciting, dramatic, entertaining, and pulls you in right from the start. I only wish this wasn't the last book.

A great ending to a great series.

Each one of the mortal mage books was outstanding. With fantasy series, some authors tend to go side ways and almost forget about the original plot and goals. Not the case here. No loss of speed from the first to the last title. I will be listening to more by this author.

Goodbye to a Wonderful World

it is bittersweet that the series is over and we are not likely to see our favorites from the series again, but what a way to end it.

Great Series

I started this series because I wanted something to listen to and the first two audible books were available free on YouTube. I enjoyed the first two so much I bought the Kindle version of all three books and then the Audible version of book 3. When I read or listen to something that is free and really enjoy it I feel it’s only fair to pay for it to support the author and narrator.

This series has a different take on magic, a great cast of characters, plenty of action including battles during a war and harrowing escapes, and the narrator’s voice is wonderful. I will miss spending evenings with the people (human and otherwise) that I met in this book.

Very Pyforial

After a slow start in Book 1, Books 2 and 3 really started to pick up. The group of rebels are a mixed bunch. You have Princess Beatrix, who secretly has feelings for Kirnich, her protector. Desil, who is loathe to hurt anyone, even when they are fighting to kill him. He has feelings for Leida, who is also loathe to harm a sole. Then there is her father, Basen, who wants to stop the war, but will betray Desil, Beatrix and Kirnich.

I found Desil to be a weak character to cast as a hero and did not really warm to him at all.

On the whole, I enjoyed this trilogy and am not sorry to use 3 credits it, which was narrated brilliantly by Simon Vance

a well rounded conclusion

I enjoyed listening to the third installment in the series. The flow of the narration was nice & although lacked in less action than previous books it was still very substantial & interesting to listen to. some sad & sweet moments.

sub standard

I expected more from the 3rd book but the book dragged and I found it difficult to finish. some action at the end as you would expect but I was disappointed with Desil for not being curious enough with his abililities and experimenting. I like the narrators performance.
