Putting words into action

Publisher's Summary
What are you really hungry for? Is it food, happiness, or something else? In this unique book, mindfulness expert Lynn Rossy offers a proven-effective, whole-body approach to help you discover the real reasons why you're overeating.
In The Mindfulness-Based Eating Solution, Rossy provides an innovative and proven-effective program to help you slow down, savor each bite, and actually eat less. This unique, whole-body approach will encourage you to adopt healthy eating habits by showing you how to listen to your body's intuition, uncover the psychological cause of your overeating, and be more mindful during mealtime.
If you find yourself eating without thinking, because you feel bored or sad, or simply because you've had a hard day, indulging here and there is understandable. But emotional eating can often spiral out of control, leading to obesity, diabetes, and heart problems in the long run. The whole-body program in this book will help you learn how to listen to your body's needs, so that you can stay healthy and happy, without giving up your love for food. In fact, according to a recent study, women in the author's Eat for Life program reported higher levels of body appreciation and intuitive eating and lower levels of problematic eating behaviors than did the wait list comparison group.
If you want to lose weight, feel better, and truly enjoy your food, the easy-to-use strategies in this book will show you how - one mindful taste at a time.

Changed the way I look at eating
I downloaded this audiobook when I binged on granola and soy milk for the fifth night in a row. Each night, I would tell myself that tomorrow was another day and I’d do better next time. That thought process was obviously not working.
The most impactful things I learned from the book was to listen to my gut (literally), gauge my hunger, chew slowly, and stop about half way through the meal to see if I really need to eat more. I began doing this right away and have already felt a change in my appearance and self-esteem.
The least beneficial parts of the book (for me, at least) were the chapters on exercise and cooking. Those are two things that I already do on a very regular basis. My issue isn’t physical fitness or fast food; it’s binge eating and emotional eating in general. These chapters might be helpful to people who do not regularly exercise or cook their own meals. I, however, ended up skipping those chapters.
The narration is really nice: a calming, slightly humorous voice. I think there are some issues with the editing of the audio; there were several instances when the narrator seems to skip words. I also purchased the Kindle version of the book, so I was at least able to read along and make sense of things in that respect.
I would highly recommend this to anyone who loves food and has problems controlling themselves around food. I’m actually going to go back and listen to the earlier chapters again to review the mediations and exercises.

Will listen again!
Narrator was clear and not too therapy sounding or preachy ;). Flow was good (some parts you could tell were a list or table or something that didn't translate well to audiobook but not too much of a nuissance). Will listen again to solidify the techniques - this wasn't your usual anxiety coping mechanisms but more about grounding your thoughts when you think about food and body image and how it affects your eating habits and thus some ways to alter that thought pattern and emotional pattern. Meditation was a role in this self therapy technique which I currently don't do but I don't think it will hurt ;P Worth a try!

A collection of overused and dubious cliches.
I didn't like the smarmy voice actress and I've heard everything in there before. (For example "diets don't work!" No, crash diets don't work. People who reduce calories for a long period of time always lose weight.) Just a compilation of everything that's been said on daytime television for 30 years and not very helpful.
