Publisher's Summary

The 'master of ticking-bomb suspense' Jeffery Deaver brings us the latest thriller featuring his most beloved protagonists. Lincoln Rhyme and Amelia Sachs are back - on the hunt for a criminal terrorising New York City.

A killer without limits.

He comes into your home at night. He watches you as you sleep. He waits.

A city in turmoil.

He calls himself ‘The Locksmith’. No door can keep him out. No security system can catch him. And now he’s about to kill.

A race against time to stop him.

Nobody in New York is safe. Now it’s up to Lincoln Rhyme to untangle the web of evidence and catch him.

But with Lincoln under investigation himself, and tension in the city at boiling point, time is running out....

Not my favourite Deaver book

Finished this a bit disappointed - jumped around a bit and felt a bit generic!

brilliantly narrated, marvellous tale

loved it, and the characterization was really good. A very solid entry for Lincoln Rhyme.

Great story BUT....

Deaver always comes up trumps with an exciting story but I struggled with the narration and had to keep rewinding and re listening. Shame.

Not up to the usual standard

I have listened to nearly all the Lincoln Rhyme books but I won’t be buying any more with this narrator. His voice is so bland that I kept losing concentration and had to backtrack. This may have been why I found this less absorbing than previous books. Bring back Jeff Harding. He suits these books perfectly. Also, one little gripe. Every time a certain character was mentioned, he was either called ‘Martin Kemp, her fiancé’ or ‘her fiancé, Martin Kemp’. I didn’t need to be told every time who he was and it really grated. Will definitely think twice before spending a credit on another Lincoln Rhyme book.

Poor narration spoils the story

Once again the narrator nearly ruins this book. He reads in a series of jerky bursts rather than a proper flow and his rather lbreathy voice is not suited for this type of book. It became intensely annoying g after a while and I have abandoned listening for now at least.
The story is standard Deaver well researched though a bit far fetched at times and it is somewhat predictable though I suppose it must be difficult to keep being original after so many successful books. I shall continue the book on my kindle so I don’t have to hear the useless narrator.

A real page turner!

I loved this story, it introduced a new member of the team which will make great future storylines.
Jeffery Deaver is one of my favourite authors, I met him in Birmingham (U.K.) at one of his signings and he was lovely.
I thoroughly recommend this book, and feel that it is as good as his earlier stories. I’m sorry it has finished and look forward to the next!
