About this listen

Dawn of Fire Book 6

The zealous Black Templars and the Order of Our Martyred Lady hold a shrine world against the Death Guard – a guttering light in the darkness.

LISTEN TO IT BECAUSE

Marc Collins shows us how desperate the fight can get in the swirl of the Indomitus Crusade. Every world defended is worthy of celebration, no matter the cost.

THE STORY

The Indomitus Crusade burns across the stars, while new threats emerge to challenge the Imperium's resurgence.

As the Kingdom of Iron is secured and the Primarch Reborn's thoughts turn to future salients, the Arch-enemy strikes back against the Indomitus Crusade's forces. The shrine worlds of the Golden Chain are all but broken, and only Velua remains defiant. Canoness Irinya of the Order of Our Martyred Lady and Champion Gaheris of the Black Templars hold the line, fighting against the plague-ridden cultists reducing the planet to anarchy.

While the war rages on and the true enemy makes itself known, the fate of Velua and the wider crusade may rest upon the shoulders of another of the Imperial Regent's agents: the disgraced Rogue Trader Katla Helvintr. Heroes rise and worlds fall, and only the light of faith will guide the warriors of the Imperium to their destiny.

I wouldn't recommend it. if you've read any book that includes sister of battle and or Black Templars it's probably at least this good.

I had really high hopes for this series but honestly so far it's been more misses than hits in my opinion. The narration was as good as ever.

not missing out

I felt like this was a really strong book, well written and the characters were far more engaging than book 5. I cared about Augustus, Cartler and Ynnari.

Custodes and Sisters of Battle

Natation as always is superb. In regards to the story, I’ve found this series a little challenging to get into each book. This one, however, took me in straight away. It was compelling and engaging and I thoroughly enjoyed it

Enjoyed it far more than I was expecting to

while the narrator did his best to articulate the story in an entertaining manner, the actual story and plot itself was nothing short of a joke. these novel sitting to be getting lazier and lazier with the struggle between the imperium and chaos.

the ending of every battle it is predictable at a disappointment. each character seems to wait for the divine intervention needed to progress the story.

wish I could get my 14 hours back

A disappointment. Bland and lazy

It is ok, I mean if your a big black Templar fan then it’s awesome.

Kinda Meh

A lot going on in this one. Didn't quite gel together all the different elements for me. Found it hard to visualise what the author was aiming to portray at times - this may just be my opinion. Some of the characters got little in the way of development. Didn't really progress the overarching narrative of the "Dawn of Fire" signfican'tly.

The stuff with the Fenrisian Rogue Trader and the Black Templars was good.

Some of the battles on the main planet were a bit tedious. Felt a bit vague in places.

A bit of a mixed bag

loosely connections to the series overall story makes the whole crusade more difficult to follow.

good but not great

If you like long drawn out descriptions of the thoughts of Plague marines and Templars than you may enjoy it. The overall plot for the Dawn of Fire advances slightly but otherwise it spends too much time describing inane scenes rather than moving with purpose. It was a chore getting to the end.

Not Brilliant

For a book that is essentially one long action scene it is incredibly boring. There are no stakes because we are not invested in the characters, and the story follows the writing trap of "And then this happens, and then this happens, and then this..."

I would skip, nothing of value would be lost.

Also why did you make the Black Templars perform the specifically Christian ritual of Lent? Not even a variation or parody, just straight up Lent. Very immersion breaking.

Very very boring
