Publisher's Summary
How well do you know your husband?
Since Alice’s fiancé walked out on her, she never thought she’d meet "The One". But all that changes when she meets Dominic. Handsome, charming, and kind, Alice can’t believe her luck when he proposes a few months later and moves into her West London home.
Three years on, Alice’s catering business is thriving and she is married to a man she adores. So when she sees that little blue line, it should be the happiest moment of her life: they’re going to have a baby. But then the police knock on her door and Alice’s whole world is turned upside down...Dominic is dead.
Distraught, Alice goes to identify the body. There’s no doubt that it’s her husband. Yet when his estranged brother comes to view the coffin, he insists the man lying there is not Dominic. Alice refuses to believe it at first, but when confronted with irrefutable proof, she finally has to face the truth:
The man she married is not the person he said he was. And if he lied about that, what else was he hiding from her?
An absolutely gripping psychological thriller that will keep you guessing. If you love Behind Closed Doors, My Lovely Wife, and Friend Request, you’ll be hooked on The Man She Married.

INFURIATING!
To write a book about weak naive uninteresting characters is simply ridiculous. Woman are soooo desperate for a mate they will overlook obvious signs that the person you are involved in is minimally a lying cheater. Not relatable in the least bit.
The only interesting part was the point of view from the husband which is short.

More a drama than a psychological thriller
Not necessarily a psychological thriller. There are no surprise twists to the storyline. Alice the main character is fairly cliché for this genre and I was hoping for some last minute twist with her for better character development

Secrets, Lies, & Betrayal
The Man She Married by Alison James pulled me in from the beginning. Imagine marrying someone and finding out years later they are not who they say they are. Alice initially came across as a naive character, yet she had grit. Dominic was a master manipulator. I enjoyed how the author wrote the suspense, the twists, and the imagery. The narrator, Jan Cramer, was wonderful adding her emotions to the story. I could feel so many things that Alice was going through. Her British voice fit the book so well.

Where is the heart stopping twist?
Part 1: there aren’t enough red flags on the planet for this woman apparently. Part 2: very good! Part 3: I became best friends with the fast forward button. Was there a twist?? It’s worth a credit if you have a lot of patience for part 3.

Great story !!
I really enjoyed this book. Even though there were for me no twists nor turns that I didn't see coming. I don't really think it was written for twists to be honest. Saying that the story is very good and it pulls you straight in. So I finished it fairly quickly. Definitely worth a read and 4 * from me 📚 only thing I found that let it down was the narrator she didn't make it sound like it was a psychological thriller. Which really was a shame. She did some great accents though

Weird jolly narration
As a story it was all right, if a bit straightforward but the narrator is like something off radio four in the last century and the tones and inflections she uses are just peculiar. I found myself being jolted out of the story all the way through.

Good story good narration
This is a good story very well told. At the start the protagonists naivety irritated me but with her back story it is very believable. Who doesn't want a Knight in shining armour to help fill their empty nest? However as a once bitten twice shy person you'd expect a little bit more scepticism on her part.
As someone not in her privileged position I struggled to empathise with her and wanted to give her an I told you so hard stare so that's why Im only giving it 4 stars.
Id recommend it to others to read or listen to though because it's a good story.

No!
Another “life’s too short”, and my resolution not to finish a book just because I started. 10 minutes in and simply can’t cope with irritating, immature narration! Returned.

Good storyline, slightly irritating main character
Main character is naive but would be more plausible if the narrator didn't sound so bored /depressed / condescending. Sorry that is a harsh but honest observation. Despite that, the story was captivating enough to ensure I did not return it after having listened to the first couple of hours on a long drive.

Psychological thriller
An intriguing story of deception and intrigue. Alice's husband Dominic is not who he says he is, but who is. The book kept up the pace of the story from beginning to end as Alice came to terms with the truth. Although at times Alice seemed too trusting, especially with Dominic's odd behaviour at times, her history made her want to believe in her husband. Moving between present and past this was a really enjoyable psychological thriller which was well narrated.
