About this listen

How well do you know your husband?

Since Alice’s fiancé walked out on her, she never thought she’d meet "The One". But all that changes when she meets Dominic. Handsome, charming, and kind, Alice can’t believe her luck when he proposes a few months later and moves into her West London home.

Three years on, Alice’s catering business is thriving and she is married to a man she adores. So when she sees that little blue line, it should be the happiest moment of her life: they’re going to have a baby. But then the police knock on her door and Alice’s whole world is turned upside down...Dominic is dead.

Distraught, Alice goes to identify the body. There’s no doubt that it’s her husband. Yet when his estranged brother comes to view the coffin, he insists the man lying there is not Dominic. Alice refuses to believe it at first, but when confronted with irrefutable proof, she finally has to face the truth:

The man she married is not the person he said he was. And if he lied about that, what else was he hiding from her?

An absolutely gripping psychological thriller that will keep you guessing. If you love Behind Closed Doors, My Lovely Wife, and Friend Request, you’ll be hooked on The Man She Married.

Overall, the book was reasonably entertaining. The story was interesting, clever in parts. But the accents were TERRIBLE. The narrator’s voice is pleasant but there were characters from multiple different locations and the various accents were inconsistent and in some cases downright awful. There were sooo many errors in the parts that related to Australia, very poorly researched. As for the Australian accent, it was hard to listen too.

So many errors

When will writers stop portraying educated, intelligent women as gullible and naive? I am so angry!

I struggled to listen to this book, I first started it months ago, but stopped listening. it did not captivate me or keep me wanting to know more.
Determined to try again to finish it, and now that I have, I'm disappointed, it left so much not covered. it was more like half a book, half a story that was missing the other half.

dis appointing - so much not covered.

The writer couldn’t even research Australian geography. Poorly conceived, odious characters and a literary disgrace.

A truly dreadful book.

Could not continue due to the bizarre narration. Totally ruined the story which otherwise would be good, would buy the book but delivery was totally butchered by the narrator.

Narration

I almost turned this book off several times because of the irritating narration. The way this performer read the book seemed really overacted and I felt that often her tone was completely at odds with what she was reading. I found this really detracted from the book.

Good story. Distractingly bad narration.
