About this listen

With an exclusive new bonus chapter... from Adam's POV

Based on the available information and the data hitherto collected, my hypothesis is that the further I stay away from love, the better off I will be.

'Contemporary romance's unicorn: the elusive marriage of deeply brainy and delightfully escapist.' Christina Lauren, New York Times bestselling author of The Unhoneymooners

*

When a fake relationship between scientists meets the irresistible force of attraction, it throws one woman's carefully calculated theories on love into chaos.

As a third-year Ph.D. candidate, Olive Smith doesn't believe in lasting romantic relationships but her best friend does, and that's what got her into this situation. Convincing Anh that Olive is on her way to a happily ever after was always going to be tough, scientists require proof. So, like any self-respecting woman, Olive panics and kisses the first man she sees.

That man is none other than Adam Carlsen, a young hotshot professor and well-known ass. Which is why Olive is positively floored when he agrees to keep her charade a secret and be her fake boyfriend. But when a big science conference goes haywire and Adam surprises her again with his unyielding support (and his unyielding abs), their little experiment feels dangerously close to combustion.

Olive soon discovers that the only thing more complicated than a hypothesis on love is putting her own heart under the microscope.

Critic Reviews

Contemporary romance's unicorn: the elusive marriage of deeply brainy and delightfully escapist...The Love Hypothesis has wild commercial appeal but the quieter secret is that there is a specific audience, made up of all of the Olives in the world, who have deeply, ardently waited for this exact book. (Christina Lauren, New York Times bestselling author of The Unhoneymooners)
Funny, sexy and smart. (Mariana Zapata, New York Times bestselling author)
This tackles one of my favorite tropes - Grumpy meets Sunshine - in a fun and utterly endearing way... I loved the nods towards fandom and romance novels, and I couldn't put it down. Highly recommended! (Jessica Clare, New York Times bestselling author)
Pure slow-burning gold with lots of chemistry.
Smart, witty dialogue and a diverse cast of likeable secondary characters... A realistic, amusing novel that readers won't be able to put down.
With whip-smart and endearing characters, snappy prose, and a quirky take on a favourite trope, Hazelwood convincingly navigates the fraught shoals of academia... This smart, sexy contemporary should delight a wide swathe of romance lovers.
When a book has a certain type of magic between the pages, you manage to get from the prologue to the epilogue without coming up for air ... The Love Hypothesis was one of these books.
I fell in love with Adam's and Olive's relationship ... it's the best romance book I've read this year

This was so good! I found myself audibly laughing at some things that Olive and Adam would say to each other. Oh, it was cute and funny. They both gave me serious Jude and Cardin vibes which I'm glad for because I love that trope.

Olive is asexual. Why isn't this talked about more?

As someone in the academic world I was reading, Tom's manipulation of Olive made me mad. Trust me when I say that I'm happy I wasn't reading this in public because the tear came flowing.

How do people not like this book because, step aside, I'm getting on the hype train!

Worth all the hype!

Ok so cons first - 1. Open ur eyes girl 2. Narrator pronounces W’s weird at times 3. Timeline at start was hard to follow 4. I wish there was more of a moment when they talked about the start (first meet)

PROS THOUGH:
I LOVED the storyline! For someone who is not an academic it was the perfect amount of information without distracting from the romance. Friend characters were cute af and love that they didnt do the classic “6 foot 4, brown hair” boring intros but would give you clues so the person builds in your mind as the book goes on. I looooooved the romance omg it gave me butterflies! I get that idk how she couldnt tell he didnt like her especially after the conference lol like what, BUT I kinda love that because I am HERE for the slow burn. Loved that they visited the same places so my small brain didnt have to catch up and constantly create new places but could focus on characters. The raunchy stuff 😏😏 was even romantic & also lowkey more accurate then I’ve seen other books do them.

All in all - worth the credit 💰

Great story! Lovely love story. The bonus chapter was amazing that it would be amazing if Adam has his own POV story. Plus Teddy is amazing

I really enjoyed this story. It may have been predictable, but really, what story isn’t these days. It was a light, humorous and easy to listen to story. I had no issues either the narration either, I thought the voices were fine (listening speed 1.1).
I’ll listen to more books from this author.

Loved it
