About this listen

Em has lived a quiet life with her complicated mother and is now looking for love and a potential escape from her small hometown. When a masked man kidnaps her in the dark of night, though, she is drawn into a terrifying world.

Jodie has been trying to forget a troubling time in her life, pouring her trauma into her work and out of her mind. Until one night her daughter is kidnapped and Jodie is dragged back into the violence.

As Em and Jodie race into the darkness, the agony of the past rushes up to meet them. It will take all their devotion and courage to escape this night alive.

Bold, vivid and heart-racingly intense, The Long Night is the darkest and most exhilarating novel yet from bestselling author Christian White.

Incredible

Thought I was enjoying it until almost the end when I discovered there were two timelines… possibly on me, but I feel it could have been made clearer. The narrator was great but the wrong choice for this story (personal preference I guess but didn’t seem to be a good fit and took me out of the story for the first half). Not my favourite CW.

Confused?

I highly recommend this book. I couldn't stop listening. very clever story brought to like by a wonderful narrator.

Gripping story. Excellent narrator

The author tried too hard to sustain the tension and thus made the story corny. She gave too much detailed description rather than lead the listener on a journey. She used far too many similes and made several references to scenes in different horror movies. Why?
Throughout the book the narrator pronounced ‘t’ as ‘d’. Eg “matter” became “madder”. Annoying.

Disappointing book

Christian White just does not miss. Another heart pounding addition to his already impressive library of work. His writing is just so visceral, only made more intense by a captivating narration from Raechyl.
