About this listen

Do you promise not to tell?

A daughter.
Beth has always known there was something strange about her daughter, Hannah. The lack of emotion, the disturbing behaviour, the apparent delight in hurting others...sometimes Beth is scared of her and what she could be capable of.

A son.
Luke comes from the perfect family, with the perfect parents. But one day he disappears without trace, and his girlfriend, Clara, is left desperate to discover what has happened to him.

A life built on lies.
As Clara digs into the past, she realises that no family is truly perfect and uncovers a link between Luke’s long-lost sister and a strange girl named Hannah. Now Luke’s life is in danger because of the lies once told and the secrets once kept. Can she find him before it’s too late?

Critic Reviews

"We Need to Talk About Kevin meets Other People's Children. Tense, unsettling, and keeps you guessing till the very end." (Cara Hunter, author of Richard & Judy best seller Close to Home)

"I devoured this in 24 hours and couldn’t put it down. The underlying sense of menace throughout had me turning the pages faster and faster." (Cass Green, best-selling author of In a Cottage, In a Wood)

Praise for Camilla Way: "A slow-burning but well-executed tale of a toxic female friendship...both Edie and Heather are utterly believable, and Camilla Way cleverly manipulates the reader into taking sides, first one way, then the other." (Daily Mail)

This book really drew me in. It was told in a very clever way that kept you guessing and wondering what it was building up to and how the two families where connected. Brought all of the characters into the plot and went back at the end and tied up
loose ends you didn't even see coming.

Fantastic read

A lackluster start, but it picks ups.
It has become annoyingly common for contemporary fiction to be structured in alternating time lines and narratives, I've become very annoyed with the practice, but this was well paced, without artificial twists or hanging threads, so credit to the author.
A good narrator, and a solid mid-level novel.
