Publisher's Summary

A gripping psychological thriller with edge-of-your-seat suspense

Loving husband? Or total stranger?

When Ella wakes up in a hospital following a hit-and-run incident, she is scared and confused. Close to tears, her eyes fall on a get-well-soon card on the window sill, and the nurse reassures her that her loving husband will be back soon....

But Ella has never been married.

In fact, she has lived alone her whole adult life; working hard, rarely socializing, quietly harboring a terrible secret from her past.

Fear sweeps through Ella when she instantly recognizes the man who enters the ward. He is not her husband, but she knows that she must do as he says and play the part of dutiful wife. What choice does she have? He was there the night of the fire; he knows her secret, too....

Do you absolutely love twisty and unputdownable psychological thrillers like Girl on the Train, The Wife Between Us, and Gone Girl? Then you will be totally hooked by this jaw-dropping novel about the dangerous secrets behind a perfect marriage.

Boring!!!!!!

This book was too long and boring.
It’s irritated the heck out of me that the lead character was such an idiot.
I got a refund half way through.

Don’t waste your credit.

Leave Already!

Very unrealistic. I hate when the story just gets stupid. She had a million ways out of her situation. I kept rolling my eyes while I listened, not a good sign.

The story is so beyond stupid. What a waste of a good credit. Very upsetting.

Draggy start

I couldn’t stand the nurse at the beginning or the long descriptions or the completely nonsensical thoughts of “Ella Bella”. I didn’t make it more than a few chapters before skipping ahead to chapter 50 just to find out the end and had already guessed half of the twist before it was revealed. Not a fan.

Can't Get Through It

I couldn't get through it. Hated the narrator's voice. And if I heard Ella Bella one more time, I might have thrown up. Hated it.

Good twist at the end but barely made it there

The first 90% of the book was so annoying - hard to get through. Good surprise at the end but you have to make it there painstakingly!

Run away from this idiotic, pointless book.

This is one of the worst audiobooks I've ever suffered through (ok 40% of the way through). Terrible plot, bland and ludicrous dialogue, a master class in terrible writing.

Don't waste a credit

This is the hardest book to listen to. It was going no where fast, and boring as heck. I made myself listen until chapter 20, then just quit. How this book got any good reviews is a mystery to me.

Great narration! Held my interest throughout! Would recommend! Some language however, which I'm not in favor of but I couldn't put it down either :-(

Great read!

This book had me wanting to know more like, right now! I normally only listen on my commute to and from work because it's quite lengthy. I was listening to it every chance I had! Great story, great narrator.

Decent

The story line kept you listening but once I got to the end I was left with questions. Karen Cass is amazing though.

Terrible ending

‘Not too bad’ through out, great twist near the end, but then turns into unbelievable, unbearable romantic tosh.

Pathetic weak and predicrable

So many riciculous blunders... I was astonished this book had such good reviews- it was literally cringeworthy.
I bought this due to its good reviews... but I seriously cannot understand how anyone thought this was worth listening to .

Boring and longwinded

I never like to give up on a slow starting book but this one was really hard work
The story had potential but the writing was laboured and meandering
There was an unexpected twist towards the end but then the story petered out disappointingly

A long drawn out story

Sorry but this was an unessessarily long drawn out story for audio listening. . Even if I had chosen to read it then I would have skipped pages. If it had been shorter and punchier then it would have been excellent . I

Disappointing

This is one of the most frustrating stories I have had the displeasure of listening to, never before have I wished harm upon a protagonist. The character of Ella is unsympathetic and whiny at best. The only redeeming quality was the narration, it’s the only reason I stuck around for the quite frankly absurd twist.
