Publisher's Summary

We live in a close-knit community. Thirty houses surrounding a square of garden that is perfect for our kids. We congregate here on major holidays, each family bringing a plate and sharing food and conversation. It’s in the garden that I first met her. The woman who would worm her way into my family and piece by piece tear it apart....

I should have known something was wrong from the very beginning. She seemed perfect in so many ways: She floated through the baby shower, a warm smile on her face, chatting to strangers with ease. At first, I thought it was sweet that she offered to help me, that she made an effort to get to know us, that she brought over games and knew Luna’s favorite foods.... I had no idea that I couldn’t trust another mother....

I should have known that someone would eventually discover the secret in my marriage. Why I never believe a word my husband says - and why he shouldn’t believe me. But how could a woman I only just met be the one to find it out?

If I’d known, I’d have called the police sooner.

And maybe I’d have prevented that dreadful scene. Every neighbor peering through their curtains as the sirens wailed in our street.

I could have protected my family.

I could have stopped what happened next....

Intriguing

Lots of twists and turns. Had me guessing to the very end. Worth listening to

Boring Listen

I felt like like the last 2hrs of the book is where the story line got good, the rest could be left out. I found it very boring overall .

Too Much Going On

Clever ideas here and an interesting way to unfold the story but there is just a little too much happening. I don't think it is a spoiler to say they are all hiding things (that becomes obvious early on) and I think that works to an extent but ultimately too much of what is happening is over-the-top. Starts to feel a bit like Melrose Place or Desperate Housewives. I found it frustrating and some of the storylines are interesting and could have been better utilised. The resolutions to almost every storyline fell a bit flat for me.

Amazing!!

I started this one thinking it was a true crime type story and was sucked in by the first chapter and finished it in 2 days! Not much of a drama fan but this title had me from the start all the way to the twist at the very end!! Absolutely recommend!!

Okay

The voice of Celeste was appalling nearly made me not listen. If I recognise her in an audible book again o won’t listen. Otherwise storyline was good.

Gripping story

Gripping story if you can get past the (slightly annoying) narration of the Celeste and Saylor characters.

Interesting

What a tangled mess these people weaved. At first no clue was given as to what was going on, then the doors gradually ope ned to reveal a mess of emotions, relationships, lies and deception. Overall a good listen

Great listen

Loved the story, kept me guessing right to the end. Suspenseful and compelling, full of twists which I love!
The only thing that let this story down was the narrator of Celeste. I had to speed up some of her chapters early on in the book, it was that infuriating. It almost caused me to stop listening, but I’m so glad I persevered!

Confusing and slow

It starts off setting the characters but takes too long.
I’m still trying to work it out.
It’s ok but not ok.
