Publisher's Summary

A luxury resort. Three missing women. One body.

When young London professional Alex Evans is informed that his sister's body has been pulled from an icy lake in Northern Lapland, he assumes his irresponsible sister accidentally drowned. He travels to the wealthy winter resort where Vicky worked as a tour guide and meets Agatha Koskinen, the detective in charge. Agatha is a no-nonsense single mother of three who already thinks there's more to Vicky's case than meets the eye.

As the two form an unlikely alliance, Alex also begins to suspect the small town where his sister lived and died is harbouring secrets. It's not long before he learns that three other women have gone missing from the area in the past and that his sister may have left him a message.

On the surface, Koppe, Lapland is a winter wonderland. But in this remote, frozen place, death seems only ever a heartbeat away.

Dreadful

This was so disappointing. I couldn’t give a fig about any of these characters and the plot was too simple and obvious.

Couldn’t stop listening

Great plot and characters, beautifully read. The Lapland weather is described so well I almost felt cold. Lots of red herrings - I had no idea who the killer was till the end. Really enjoyed this book and will now get whatever else she’s written.

Disappointing

I've read other Jo Spain books which drew me into the story immediately.
This was difficult to get into & I struggled to finish it
Some of the characters were one dimensional.
I could not recommend this book.

Love Jo Spain, but this is not her best

The setting is interesting, however I found the story predictable and nearly gave up after the first few chapters. Whilst I was able to identify the ‘lover’ very early, It did improve and I did finish it. Shame as her other books have had me enthralled.

Really enjoyed this book

Just when you presume you know exactly who’s done what to whom it all changes and you kick yourself for not picking up the clues but they’re so cleverly written into the storyline it’s only hindsight that makes them obvious.

Brilliant! Keeps you guessing to the very end

Another brilliant novel from Jo Spain. So many intricately woven lines to keep you guessing. Narrators accents were impeccable. If I could give it more than 5 stars I would! Highly recommend to all loves of crime/mystery thrillers 🤩

Dull, drawn out and predictable

Overly long, drawn out plot. Red herrings were not credible - persevered until the end, but it was a hard slog overall.

Boring AF

I've read all Jo Spain's books which I thoroughly enjoyed - but this was so boring and predictable. This was so boring I couldn't finish it - waste of money.

Bloody good listen

Really enjoyed this story from start to finish.
The narration was excellent and would have no hesitation in listening to the same narrator.
The description of Finland(Lapland) was very informative and gave a good insight into this country.
