the end was a bit rush and forced but the story telling makes you see the whole picture, understand the background and characters, however a bit poor with the "big Santadio war" that was actually rather short. Love Puzo's touch on food, describes it so well that makes you seek for a meal

After doing The Godfather (excellent) and The Sicilian (ok story, poor performance) I didn't know what to expect with The Last Don - but despite having no link to the earlier books, this was a great journey and Joe Barrett has such a great voice that it elevates every character he reads.

This became by far my favourite Godfather book. The storyline is well followed and justified, the characters are well developed. The reader deliver a superb performance: rhythmical, accentuated and internalised.
