About this listen
As the ruthless owner of a notorious gaming hell, Aaron Chance’s fierce reputation commands the ton’s respect. Scarred by his tragic past, there is no room in his ordered life for love. Vengeance is his only desire. His interest in Miss Lovelace, the captivating owner of a ladies’ club, is strictly business. Something he reminds himself when she invades his thoughts at night, when she’s the endless subject of his dreams.
When a peer is found dead at Joanna Lovelace’s club, there’s only one man she can turn to for help—the dark and dangerous owner of Fortune’s Den. But Mr Chance despises her and is barely civil. Her only saving grace is his preoccupation with her safety. Why does he drag drunkards from her door at night? Why do his covert glances make her heart race?

Erin?
First up, let me just say that this was part of a series that really shouldn’t be read as a standalone. I found myself confused AF multiple times, trying to follow threads of the story that were already well established in earlier books. It felt like I was jumping into a conversation halfway through.
As for the story itself, I think it was fine, but honestly, it’s hard to recall much because all I really remember is that for about 85% of the book, I thought the MMC’s name was Erin. I was so intrigued by that! But then it finally clicked, and I googled it—turns out it’s actually AARON. WTAF? Why was Zimmerman entirely unable to say Aaron?!
I vaguely remember thinking that the story could’ve been decent if a) you’d read the earlier novels in the series and b) you weren't listening to the audiobook version. I was mostly just mad at the pronunciation of Aaron. Once I figured that out, I actually wasn’t able to finish it. It just took me out of the experience completely.
So, if you’re considering diving into "The Last Chance," make sure you've read the other books in the series first. And maybe think twice about the audiobook version unless you want to get frustrated over character names!
