About this listen

Number one best-selling author Stephen King's unforgettable novella - first included in his 1990 award-winning collection Four Past Midnight and made into a highly acclaimed miniseries - about a terrifying plane ride into a most unfriendly sky is now available as a stand-alone publication.

The flight attendants were gone; almost all the passengers were gone; Brian Engle was willing to bet the 767's two-man cockpit crew was also gone. He believed Flight 29 was heading east on automatic pilot.

On a red-eye flight from LA to Boston, 10 passengers wake up to discover everyone else has disappeared. Brian Engle, a trained pilot, remembers something about a strange aurora borealis and turbulence reports over the desert. Now he has to try to land the plane.

But the safe haven of Bangor airport is not what it seems. It's eerily empty. The clocks have stopped. The food and drink is tasteless. The fuel doesn't burn. And the sound, like 'radio static', is getting closer. Craig Toomy, an investment banker, believes he knows what's coming. The Langoliers. Which means time is, quite literally, running out....

A spine-tingling, propulsive novella, The Langoliers is a brilliant listen from the masterful Stephen King.

Willem Dafoe did an amazing job of narrating a story I love.
Character narration was great. Music added to the suspense.

Felt like this was recorded in the 70’s with the background music choices. Enjoyable story

Quick tale

Fantastic story by King but as much as I love Willem Dafoe as an actor, his accents were terrible (was Nick Hopewell English or Australian, Dafoe couldn't decide) and his female voices made me cringe. His occasional strange pronunciations threw me off as well (saying gas as garse wtf?)
And no listener ever has thought "you know what's missing from this book? Cheesy background music".

Other than that, the actual story is enjoyable.

Usual King brilliance but ditch the music.

I really enjoyed the story, but I found the music to be quite annoying.

loved it.

I’d read the book when it was first published. So listening to it while on a long drive made the trip a breeze. Thank yp

Great story, well read!

Great story! Loved Dafoe’s reading but not the accents. Just read it Big Willy. Also, whoever said adding background music to an audiobook was a good idea should be jailed. It’s a crime.

STOP WITH THE MUSIC

couldn't listen past chapter one. An actor does not a narrator make. Love s king but I am vision impaired and have to rely on audio books

terrible narration!

I love Willem Defoe but his English accent is woeful!! His tone is an exact replica of Tony Curtis in ‘some like it hot’ when he tries to ape Cary Grant. Funny but distracting for this story..

Pretty good Stephen king
