THE THRILLING NEW INSTALMENT IN THE WISTING SERIES, FROM THE NO. 1 INTERNATIONAL BESTSELLER

Following a harsh winter, the dam gates at Farris Lake have been badly damaged, and as summer approaches the lake must be drained for repairs.

Under the intense summer sun, the idyllic lake transforms into a barren wasteland – until the secrets that have long been buried beneath the surface are uncovered…

On both sides of the lakebed, new evidence relating to unsolved cold cases is discovered – the remains of a young man who went missing eight years ago, and the belongings of a girl who disappeared four years later.

Detective William Wisting is certain these crimes are linked. The lake has long hidden its secrets – but can Wisting now bring the truth to light?

The weather & water shape the course of this often tense always gripping Nordic thriller. It’s Jørn Lier Horst’s latest in his Wisting series with our well known Detective William Wisting drawn into a mystery after a scavenger finds a gold chain with the letter A monogrammed on one side. There are plenty of clues in and around a lake that’s given up more than usual following a very warm summer, resulting in the water level dropping, exposing secrets & clues. Horst is a master at weaving a multi-layered plot with characters coming & going in the chase to find answers. The twists on the way to the end do not appear contrived & provide a genuine surprise for readers who love Nordic noir. It’s one of Horst’s best & the translation is a joy for English readers.
