Publisher's Summary

A classic story of friendship between man and beast.

Saved from the jaws of the evil tiger Shere Khan, young Mowgli is adopted by a wolf pack and taught the law of the jungle by lovable old Baloo the bear and Bhageera the panther. The adventures of Rikki-Tikki-Tavi the snake-fighting mongoose, little Toomai and the elephant's secret dance, and Kotick the white seal are all part of Mowgli's extraordinary journey with his animal friends.

A robust reading by Tony Robinson.

I love the jungle book.

I am a huge fan of the jungle book and of Tony and I have been waiting ages to find this version (read by Tony Robinson). If i had to find a negative it's only that Tony's interpretation of Shere Khan and Akeka's voice didn't match the interpretation in my head. but that's my problem. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Make sure you have the complete version!

The only problem I had with this audio version is that it was not the complete book. I had to purchase an additional book to get the full 5 hrs.

Any additional comments?

This version only contains the stories: Mowgli's Brothers, Kaa's Hunting, and Tiger! Tiger! and some smaller poems. It DOES NOT contain The White Seal, Rikki-Tikki-Tavi, or Toomai of the Elephants as advertised.

Just the Mowgli stories

What did you love best about The Jungle Book?

The "Law of the Jungle"

Which character – as performed by Tony Robinson – was your favorite?

Most of his voices were similar, but he did put a different personality to each. Mowgli was especially passionate, I think he must be my favorite. Bagheera is my next favorite.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes

Any additional comments?

This version is only the Mowgli stories.

An absolute joy, brilliantly read.

I've always loved this book, so decided to download it for my iPod.
I listened to a lot of it recently when I took a coach up to London; it is very, very good and the time flew by.
Tony Robinson is a brilliant reader. His character voices are varied, appropriate and fantastic, and really bring it to life.

What more can I say other than that I believe that this is as good as an audiobook gets!

Not Unabridged at all

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Tony Robinson's reading of this is excellent, but this is by no means the whole of the Jungle Book.
