About this listen

All was quiet in the Bodle home in Plumstead village on the morning of 2 November 1833. In the large ten bedroom farmhouse, the maid Sophia Taylor began preparing breakfast while, at the cottage down the track, Mary Higgins came down to set the fire. But all was not as it seemed that morning....

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

No. The actual story line is minimal and filled with, what I could only describe as, Chemistry lessons.

What will your next listen be?

Crime

What does Patience Tomlinson bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

Obviously an accomplished presenter .. not a lot to work with here though.

If this book were a film would you go see it?

No

Any additional comments?

Disappointing and not at all as expected.

Chemistry Class

This could have been a great book. But it is continually interrupted with historical facts and explanations. While these are certainly interesting, I just wanted to hear about the murder and the “who done it” element!

Frustrating
