About this listen

Christian:

Being invited to my cousin’s wedding really shouldn’t be a big deal except, oh yeah, I haven't seen my family for a decade.

My parents turned their backs on me, and I’ve done everything since to become successful and show them what they've lost. Only it’s kinda hard to be a success when you’re a walking trainwreck.

So I’m going to fake it. Hire a guy with an online presence so impressive they’ll be desperate to welcome me back into the elitist fold, and roll into the wedding with the kind of confidence I’ve never felt a day in my life.

The plan’s a knockout.

Until my fake date cancels minutes before the ceremony.

Émile:

One letter from my dearly departed grandfather, and suddenly I’m on a husband hunt.

He’s reworked his entire will so I’m set to inherit far more than I'm entitled to, and all because he’s asked me to use that money for “good.”

In order to get that inheritance though, there’s one stipulation: marriage.

Even with his request, I’m tempted to stick to my original plan of getting as far from my wretched family as possible, and letting them fight it out.

But then I run into a tall drink of scattered mess outside of a wedding who’s in desperate need of a date, and the pieces click into place.

I help him, he helps me.

Marriage, money, then go our separate ways.

Easy.

Now all I have to do is stop myself from actually falling for the guy.

From the very first page, The Husband Hoax sweeps you into a fairy tale that’s equal parts hilarious, tender, and emotionally satisfying. It’s a delightful kickoff to the Accidental Love series, introducing readers to the wonderfully chaotic and endearing world of the Bertha Boys—a found family you’ll want to be adopted into immediately.

The story begins with a classic rom-com twist: Christian, sweet and self-deprecating, finds himself dateless for his cousin’s wedding. Enter Emile—suave, charming, and every inch the modern-day Prince Charming—who steps in to save the day. What starts as a fake date quickly blossoms into something far more meaningful, and watching their relationship unfold is pure joy.

Christian sees himself as clumsy and unworthy, a “pathetic loser” in his own words, but Emile sees through the insecurity to the heart of someone deeply lovable. Their dynamic is electric—Emile’s confidence and warmth gently coax Christian out of his shell, while Christian’s vulnerability and sincerity give Emile something real to hold onto. The romance is tender and slow-burning, filled with moments of humor, longing, and genuine emotional connection.

The audiobook narration by Teddy Hamilton and James Joseph is pitch-perfect. Hamilton brings Emile’s charisma to life with effortless charm, while Joseph captures Christian’s awkward sweetness and emotional depth with nuance and heart. Together, they elevate the story, making every scene—from comedic mishaps to romantic revelations—feel vivid and intimate.

Beyond the central romance, The Husband Hoax lays the foundation for a broader ensemble cast. The Bertha Boys are quirky, loyal, and full of personality, setting the stage for future books in the series with promise and flair. Their presence adds richness to the narrative, reinforcing the theme of found family and the joy of unexpected connections.

In short, this book is a gem—funny, romantic, and emotionally resonant. Whether you’re here for the fake dating trope, the swoon-worthy narration, or the lovable cast of misfits, The Husband Hoax delivers with heart and humor. A must-read (and must-listen) for fans of MM romance with a fairy tale twist.

This was a beautiful addictive and sweet story. Honestly, it just bought me joy listening to.

Christian and his accident prone nature was divine, and omg how often I cringed with him!

Emile’s strength and confidence for Christian was beautiful.

The way they both then lent on and trusted each other was perfection. I cannot rate it highly enough.

There was so much to love!!

James Joseph did a phenomenal job narrating with believable accents, but for the love of God, hearing Teddy Hamilton butcher that posh British accent was so incredibly painful. If I didn't love Saxon James' writing so much, I wouldn't have finished this book.

Lucky I love Saxon James

so I liked this story. it was sweet and had a satisfying ending. I usually love Teddy's narration but his attempt at an English accent did drag me out of the story a few times. if you enjoy a cosy romance though, it is easy to over look the English/Australian/south African accent that Teddy gives for this performance.

great story
