Story
When I arrive unannounced at my husband's studio in need of a shoulder to cry on after hearing that my best student, Alex, has died, I see a pair of wineglasses drying by the sink, and my deepest fear is confirmed: my husband is having an affair. Most women would fall to their knees in tears and throw him out of the house - but I just can't bring myself to do it. Instead, I go home and cook a healthy dinner for our children, walk the dog, and unload the dishwasher without complaint. I need this marriage to work to protect a terrible secret of my own....

Story
When Claire sees Hannah Wilson at an exclusive Manhattan hair salon, it's like a knife slicing through barely healed scars. It may have been 10 years since Claire last saw Hannah, but she has thought of her every day, and not in a good way. So Claire does what anyone would do in her position - she stalks her. Hannah is now Mrs. Carter, living the charmed life that should have been Claire's. It's the life Claire used to have before Hannah came along and took it all away from her.

Story
It can be hard keeping secrets in a tight-knit neighbourhood. In a tranquil, leafy suburb of ordinary streets - one where everyone is polite and friendly - an anonymous note has been left at some of the houses. ‘I’m so sorry. My son has been getting into people’s houses. He’s broken into yours.’ Who is this boy, and what might he have uncovered? As whispers start to circulate, suspicion mounts. And when a missing local woman is found murdered, the tension reaches breaking point. Who killed her? Who knows more than they’re telling?

The next, Kit hasn't turned up for the boat and his wife, Melia, has reported him missing. When you get off at your stop, the police are waiting. Another passenger saw you and Kit arguing on the boat home the night before, and the police say that you had a reason to want him dead. You protest. You and Kit are friends - ask Melia, she'll vouch for you.

Any woman who’s ever been involved with a bad, bad man and been dumped will understand what it feels like to be broken, brokenhearted and bent on revenge. Taylor Bishop is hurt and angry and wants to destroy Angus Hollingsworth in the way he destroyed her: ‘Insidiously. Irreparably. Like a puzzle he’d slowly dissembled...stolen a couple of pieces from and then discarded, knowing that nobody would ever be able to put it back together ever again.’ So Taylor consults The Art of War and makes a plan. GReat easy story!
This was an easy to listen to book without a ton of characters to keep up or unnecessary drama. Kept me interested all the way through. I do have a hard time with some British narrators but not this one!

Just ok
This book was only ok. I listened to it relatively quickly because it wasn’t very long really. The child narration was grating and distracting. I doubt the author is going to surprise many readers with this book. Also I know most people are highly offended by animal maltreatment even in fiction so I need to warn that there is an incident in the book that gave me pause. Really can’t recommend this one might be worth the sale price I guess. But yeah the narration was ughhhhh nails+chalkboard=one irritated mama!!!!

Just 'Meh'- Easy Read, sort of Boring
The Housemate was a very quick listen for me. I figured out the 'surprise ending' about half way through the book. It was a quick read, and I would recommend it as a beach read if anything.
Two roommates need a roommate to help pay their rent in a nice area of London. They take in Sammy, who seems great at first, but then turns sort of weird and creepy. What will the girls do to get her to leave? She has no intention of leaving, but she's no longer welcomed..
I would recommend this to anyone who wants to enjoy a fast, simple psychological thriller. Not great, not terrible.

Jumpy at first
It jumped around for a bit and I had a hard time keeping up with the characters. Later, it wasn't that hard to figure out, because you know it's never the one you are lead to believe it should be. However, for me it was a fun listen, nothing brilliant. I might try another from this author.

Should have listen to the reviews
I don’t review books often but in my opinion, don’t waste your money on this one. Wish I would have listened to the reviews. The narrators voice is annoying but let’s face it she didn’t have much to work with. The story drug out forever and just wasn’t what I would call a thriller. The only reason I finished it was the price I paid for it.

Predictable but nice
The characters were solid but the story will be a bit predictable if you read/listen a lot of thriller books. In all honesty you’ll see the plot twist coming mid way through the book but with as crazy as 2020 is sometimes a predictable easy listen/read is fine and fair enough. I enjoyed it for what it was but if you want something super suspenseful and intense with red herrings and plot twists left and right this probably won’t leave you chomping at the bit to get to the end.

Long explanation at the end REALLY annoyed me.
I don’t know about anyone else here but l cant stand books that go through a long winded explanation at the end to explain in detail how they 'did it' .....pure 'scooby doo' style.??
Example. '....And as for the murder with the candle in the library let me tell you how l did that.....well it wasnt a candle! I was clever and used a banana!!'
Oh stop! If you need to explain everything at the end then it only shows your plot was so badly executed.
''Could have gotton away with it too....if it weren’t for those'''.....OH SHUT UP!

Disappointing - hackneyed and irritating
I found this a tough listen from the beginning. I was irritated by the 'obviousness' of the descriptions and characterisations. I felt that the story held some promise at the start, but in fact was weak throughout. The supposed 'twist' was easily foreseeable, and I didnt need to have the protagonist 'explain' everything to me at the end.
I didn't believe that the characters would have behaved as they did, and that their back stories (event the more well developed) were flimsy.
As someone who has worked in mental health services, and had some mental health issues, I found the management of mental health insulting. It was the kind of characterisation Id expect from a tabloid newspaper, not an author who, I assume, did some research. The excessive focus on vulnerability and threat was lazy, and the discussions surrounding more serious diagnoses were, frankly, unacceptable for a modern author.
Such as shame, more critical handling of the storyline could have made it something worth listening to.

Dragged a little
This book had an unexpected ending but could have done so much more with the story. Worth a listen but nothing to rave about if I’m being honest. It seemed to really drag after a while as well.

I enjoyed this but I guessed the twist well before the end. I still recommend this book though, it was enjoyable.
