________

Maya is still haunted by the cabin - deep in the woods, where the trees are so dense it's easy to miss.

She hasn't been there since the summer she was seventeen. Since the day her best friend Aubrey died and Maya's world shattered.

Maya's memories of that summer are fragmented, but there is one thing she knows for sure, and that's who murdered Aubrey. Even if no one believes her.

Now, seven years later, another woman from their hometown has died in the same strange, unexplained way.

Maya knows only she can uncover the truth and save the next innocent girl. But to do that she'll have to go back - back to the forest, back to the house in the pines . . .©2023 Ana Reyes (P)2023 Hachette Audio UK

Terrible ending. Took me a few hours to start even listening consistently. Felt the need to finish it as I had purchased it. Disappointing.

Kept waiting for it to get better

the narrator initially threw me off a little, felt like a script rather than a story so it was hard to get into the plot. i warmed to her a bit further in.

i didn’t enjoy or find the story very interesting, but it wasn’t boring enough for me to be upset that I’d spent a credit. the characters just weren’t three dimensional and i couldn’t care about them.

the ending just meandered off into finishing the book without finishing the story. a little like my review!

a bit bland

I was just a bit disappointed as to how it all turned out, I feel like I just expected more from the story rather than it to end the way it did.

Disappointed

I truly thought this book would be great as it started and I waited patiently for the twist that never came, hoping the ending would be better than the predictable one that I pieced together very quickly. The only thing more disappointing than the slow deflation of this story is the excruciating and long aftermath that led me to think a big surprise was around the corner.

Lukewarm story

All over the place Wish i had read the reviews first, or sent it back, but i kept thinking it would get better.

Dissapointing
