About this listen

At one time, Corrie ten Boom would have laughed at the idea that she had a story to tell. For the first 50 years of her life, nothing out of the ordinary ever happened to her. She was a spinster watchmaker living contentedly with her sister and their elderly father in the tiny house over their shop in Haarlem. Their uneventful days, as regulated as their own watches, revolved around their abiding love for one another.

But with the Nazi invasion and occupation of Holland, everything changed. Corrie ten Boom and her family became leaders in the Dutch underground, hiding Jewish people in their home in a specially built room and aiding their escape from the Nazis. For their pains, all but Corrie found death in a concentration camp.

Here is a story aglow with the glory of God and the courage of a quiet Christian whose life was transformed by it.

Critic Reviews

"Wanda McCaddon does great credit to the writers of this true story. Her emotional control makes the tension and horror of the family’s plight more real and hideous. The listener is left with a story of extraordinary humanity, goodness and overwhelming love." ( AudioFile)

This true story is beautifully written; it reads like a novel. Furthermore, it’s characters appear larger than life and are more than conquerors in the hardships they face. They each inspire me to be a better person, and to take my faith more seriously. Thanks be to God for this treasure.

This is an old Christian classic I’ve read before but it was a treat to have it read to me. On the whole it was read well until the reader attempted an English accent that was cringeworthy. Definitely a good read

This is one of those “ can’t put it down” type of books

I had read this book as a hard cover years ago and enjoyed it then. Thought I'd revisit it and enjoyed it all over again. The book is based in Holland/Germany but is read by a very English narrator, this wasn't an issue for me. I thought she did a good job. The book is faith based, Christian, but I think even non-christians would find the book positive in promoting over coming your circumstances and overcoming hate to find forgiveness and love even at its toughest.

A Classic

Wow. Inspirational. A beautifully presented autobiography of Corrie and her family through the Nazi regime. Faith, God’s grace and friendship, especially between the sisters, were pillars in holding them together during perilous times. We can certainly learn from those times (from history) as well as appreciate the conveniences we have today.

Thank you for making this audiobook available. Highly recommended.

what an incredible Woman Corrie and the Ten Boom family. I couldn't imagine the pain the people of the concentration camps went through. The Hiding Place let me in to the courage, endurance and the amazing ability to stay on the path of faith and trust that Corrie had. my heart ached at what they all went through.

Gods gift to us all
