About this listen

Sweeping and evocative, The Hidden Girl is a lost treasure from the global number one bestselling author Lucinda Riley.

You can’t alter destiny . . .

Born and raised in a small village on the Yorkshire moors, Leah Thompson grows more beautiful with each passing day. When she catches the attention of the influential, troubled Delancey family, she knows her life will never be the same again.

Years later, Leah takes the modelling world by storm, travelling from Milan to London and New York and living life in the lap of luxury. But her past follows her like a dark shadow, mysteriously intertwined with the tragic tale of two young siblings in Poland during the Second World War.

As two generations of secrets threaten to explode, Leah is haunted by a fatal, forgotten prophecy from her past, and must fight to challenge the destiny that has been mapped out for her in the stars . . .

Long before she became the bestselling author of The Seven Sisters series, Lucinda Riley wrote Hidden Beauty as Lucinda Edmonds. This standalone novel has been reworked and given new life as The Hidden Girl by Harry Whittaker, Lucinda’s son and co-author of Atlas: The Story of Pa Salt.

This one will sit with me some time. Only Lucinda could write about such topics so well. A number of triggering moments yet I couldn’t put it down. So much respect for her characters in such real life situations.

This book managed the chronological family saga extremely well. The performance of the voice reader using different language accents for the characters was superb.

The evil in this world, and still it goes on. No one has learned and by not speaking up we are all guilty letting it happen.

The characters

Absolutely loved this story. It reminded me of The Seven Sister's. I was totally emotionally involved in all of the main characters. The story from New York, Paris, Yorkshire dales and POW camp came alive.

Hidden Girl - Fantastic

Life was put on hold as I read this book. It consumed me and it was if every character was in the room with me. It is a story that will resonate with anybody. Love, lessons and the will to survive.
Thankyou Lucinda and Harry, for this wonderful story.

I hope my previous review showed 5 stars. I only saw 3 after I submitted

Talented author from an early age

The world lost a great one when Lucinda passed. A consummate storyteller, there are so few like her.
I could not fathom the decision David and Rosa’s Mother made, when she had the opportunity to save her children’s lives by taking them to Britain, instead selfishly chose to not leave her husband, condemning them to death/or a lifetime of generational trauma. I wonder if there was a Mother alive at the time, who would have made the same decision. Just shocking

Another Amazing Lucinda

I’ve loved all of Lucinda Riley’s books. This is by far my favorite. I was so disappointed when it came to the end.

The best one yet!
