Publisher's Summary

Welcome to Wicked - the paranormal sixth borough of New York that's home to witches and goblins, werewolves and necromancers, elves and vampires‚ and former Detective Dani DeMarco. Dani's busy with the grand opening of her family's pizza parlor when a knock on the door leaves her face to face with the stunning yet lethal vampire in charge of the NYPD's supernatural branch - Captain Matthew King.

There's been a high-profile double homicide in the Sixth Borough, and Dani's peculiar talent is the only hope to untangle the web of lies and magic connecting the dead victims. As the case spirals into a pulse-pounding chase, Dani's not sure what's worse: the fact that a ruthless killer has his sights set on her or that her feelings for New York's most infamous vampire have returned.

I couldn’t even finish it

There was too much of the 2 main characters mooning over their lost love. I was interested more in the mystery but the story moved too slow and made me hate the female main character. Interesting with the talking furniture and the female’s reserve talent but that took the backseat to a stupid love affair that I would rather wasn’t included. The narrator was ok but it didn’t sound like she had much of a range and the main characters sounded very similar.

GOOD START. INTERESTING PLOT.

Well written and well narrated. The plot was interesting though it was a bit slow at the middle but it caught up towards to end. Dani is a difficult character to understand at times. The romance between her and Captain Matthew King can be rather distracting and going no where. I hope more will be revealed in the next book. As for the mystery it was good. Lots of intrigues and secrets but the truth came out eventually. Still a good start for a new series.gina LaManna wrote well and Alyson Ryan performed well with different voices for the chances. I will continue the next book which is available now.

Light Entertainment

Narrator took a bit getting use to, but did a fairly good job at expressing different characters. Story left me wanting to know what happens next. Sime plot points a little too over the top.... talking furniture was a bit much. Overall entertaining story that was fun to listen to but lacked the intensity of other paranormal stories.

Liking this new series

Gina LaManna has crafted a good second series with well rounded and fully developed characters. Allyson Ryan gives a great performance giving each character their own distinct voice. I recommend this book to paranormal fans.

Too Sexual For Me

I am really sad this didn't work out. The premise is very clever, I like the spunky lead character, and it is engaging. There was just too much inuendo and sexual tension for my tastes. I will be returning it. As far as I've listened there hasn't been a sex scene, but there's constant yearning, flashbacks to "the last time," etc. that it distracted from the awesome premise. I like romance in my murder mysteries, but I'd say this is a serving of attraction with just a dash of mystery.

Hot male Werewolf and vamp, and a female witch

The Hex Files: Wicked Never Sleeps By: Gina LaManna Narrated by: Allyson Ryan Murder, action, romance, and friendships in this world where supernatural creatures are the norm. Magic, wizards, shifters and more. Our detective witch has two make admirers, a vamp and a shifter. Oh, the choices! The narration is excellent!

Decently good

The story has potential but it’s a little too close to the twilight series with its vampire Dudly Doright and then the passionate werewolf. Also the magic is all over the place regarding who can do what. Narrator is ok, but not great with accents.

Very distracting and little story

The story was ok. But man I did not like the weird changing of views between the vampire and the witch. Once the POV changed to the vampire it was “oh Danni is so great my one true love she’s so awesome at her job” it was really really irritating and did nothing to the story. Also the author needs to implement He/She a little more than saying their names in EVERY SENTENCE. The whole sexual tension/love angle just took away from the whole story. It’s like the author wanted to make this an adult twighlight series. Nobody wants that especially ADULTS. It made the whole story not flow as it should.

Its not terrible

the narrator is something you would have to get used to. it took me at least four or five chapters just to get used to her voice but it does get better, the story actually captures you after you get used to it and is definitely one of those books I would prefer to read over listening to until the very end at least definitely worth the read though and I'm looking forward to getting the next book in the series

Very Entertaining

Delightful story, great character development. Love the tension between Danni and Nathan. Was pleased with the ending. Looking forward to the next story.
