About this listen

Daniel Martin has never forgotten his childhood encounters with Frank Watkins, the man who built his family a summer home out of cardboard and plywood. Frank's gaze was oddly confusing, as if he was attempting to discern the proper way to behave because he didn't know how to respond in a human manner. Since Frank obviously wasn't an alien, young Daniel thought maybe the man was crazy. In the end, Daniel would learn the terrifying truth about Frank Watkins. And as an adult, Daniel is about to discover there are more of them out there.

Good characterisation and not a bad storyline. Some moments of having to suspend reality but it works.

OMG this had me from the get go.
So creepy, I would sometimes play it back to go over what I thought I heard, that I actually had heard correct.
It was so good.
Narration by Chris Andrew Ciulia, was spot on.
Could easily listen to this book again.
Thanks to you both

I enjoyed this book but I think it could have been about 4 hours shorter...

Creepy story, well told

gave this one a go because it's a freebie. at the start i was like, "ok... here we go, another predictable story..." but then it got really interesting! the story is not always linear, which is refreshing! very well written and excellently narrated, definitely give this one a go!

excellent

Loved it! Reminiscent of Stephen King, in the way the story has layers and gets into your head.

Thriller

I was enjoying the story until about the last two chapters. I felt that the happenings within the final house were too stretched and repetitive which unfortunately switched me off from active listening. This caused me to have to replay the final five minutes twice to check how it ended.

Started well but too long

I thoroughly enjoyed this story, I wanted to keep on listening. The back story of Daniel and Frank were always intriguing , Frank was a great villain. The ending was good enough. Graphic, sinister, sad, scary and enjoyable at the same time

Don't hire Frank

A rambling, mildly suspenseful story that is severely detracted from by the narrator, who sounds like he is reading to 5-year-olds. Convoluted and pointless in some areas.

Convoluted and poor choice of narrator

A solid start which seemed promising, but struggled to keep engaged the further the story went.
The phrase “wet blood” seems superfluous.
Not a huge fan of the change of perspective from Daniel to other characters in the second half of the story.
Unnecessary graphic r*pe scene.
The chapter from Randy’s perspective made me want to scream WTF
Another unnecessary historical r*pe in one characters ex-wife.
Could be about 4 hours shorter.
Continues to be so over the top, found myself agreeing with the words of the narrator “that’s just stupid”.

Will ruin the name Frank for you.
