Publisher's Summary

Sixteen years is a long time. In a marriage, it’s a milestone. On the gridiron, it’s a miracle. Reed Johnson wants more time for everything, but time is funny that way.

It can be cruel.

With a body that can’t quite take the hits it used to and a heart tired of being torn in two different directions, Reed is faced with a reality he’s not quite ready for - life without the game. He became a man under Friday night game lights and in college stadium tunnels, and without the grit and the glory that’s earned 10 yards at a time, he’s afraid of what kind of man he’ll be.

But there’s more than a game at stake now.

Reed’s wife, Nolan, is afraid, too. She’s seen what can happen when the love of her life pushes himself too hard, and she can’t escape the nightmares she relives after almost losing her entire world to one single play on the field.

There is no compromise when it comes to football. Same goes for the heart. You’re either all in, or you get crushed. For Reed and Nolan, the clock is ticking down. Time...it does that. One way or another, they’re going to have to make a choice.

This is their hail Mary.

This is win or lose.

Marriage isn't easy!

I love that Ginger Scott gave us a realistic look at marriage. It always irks me because people just think marriage is easy and you don't have to work for it. That is so totally wrong. Marriage is hard. You have to be willing to put the work into it or there is no reason to try. I loved seeing Nolan and Reed as adults and working through a marriage with problems. I enjoyed the progression of the entire trilogy. The narration was done very well. I'm always so happy when the book has a dual POV and used the necessary person in narration.

Very relatable

This book was by far the best in the series. It gives a relatively relatable story line. The portrayal of how emotional life can be is spot on. It’s a fairy tail love story full of ups and downs. Certain parts made me shed a few tears. Highly recommend this series of books.

In the end...family is everything!

The Hail Mary….Just Wow…First I was so surprised that this story kept going…but It was such an intense story about the role sports play in the lives of those who live it…a need so great that even if your health is in jeopardy it takes precedent to your family. This is the continuation of the love -story between Nolan Lennox and Reed Johnson and where life has taken them up the road after many years of playing Pro Football and the 3rd book in The Waiting on the Sidelines seriess. Ginger Scott has impressed me every time I pick up one of her books…she has such a handle on her characters and you really are drawn into her stories. 5-star worthy and more.

Different Writing Style from the Prior Books

I was hesitant to read/listen to this one, but in the end I figured I needed to see the series through. This book is quite a jump in time. The couple is well into a mature but distant marriage that comes with living separately more than together. The story is set 16 years after book 2 ends, but it is filled with flashbacks to their high school days and growths as the couple go through the challenges of their adult lives. The interesting thing about the flashbacks were that they was told from a different point of view than in the prior books. I liked hearing the other side of the story. That being said, I believe this book can be read as a standalone because of the flashbacks.

Dragged

The first book was my favorite. The second they were still a little immature but it was cute. This one... meh. I had to listen at 1.5 speed because the narrators were just too slow. I was annoyed with the characters at that speed, I probably would have quit listening if I had to hear at normal speed.

Great family story

When I started this series I was unsure I wanted to continue, I don't normally read high school based books. But, I am so glad I did! Great characters who developed as the books went on. I really enjoyed this series.

Jaded Reader!

Well! I can’t tell you how many hundreds of books I’ve read over just the past few years. I’m afraid my heart has become hardened, somewhat, to characters good writers just can’t make me like or connect to anymore. But Ginger Scott has made my heart feel things, in this series, that I was beginning to believe were lost to me. I really liked each personality she assigned to her characters and liked how I could watch them grow. I laughed with them and at them and amazingly I hurt with them and cried with them. One way I can tell if a writer really pulls me in is if I think about the characters and what they are going through when I’m away from the book. Ginger Scott was able to do this and one step further...she was able to make me want to write a review!! Keep up the good work! There’s hope for my heart after all!

Hail Mary

I loved the conclusion to this trilogy. This couple came a long way. They’ve grown so much and so was their love. Love prevail all obstacles if you don’t allow anything to come in between. Nolan and Reed did just that. If you love childhood romance, this one is for you!
