Sentimental horror is what I was told. This was not wrong but it is still so much more. If in doubt give it a go, you won't regret it.

Lots of rave reviews for this book so ended up being underwhelmed. Story good enough, I liked the protagonist and the creature, possibly more because of the setting. Tones of Donald Trump were not offputting 😀 indeed added a wee bit of satisfaction.

Narration was pleasant, range of characters, tho some minor ones a bit dodge.

Overall more disappointed in the overly enthusiastic reviews than the book. Not bad.

Great prose, great idea and subject. Characters are complex and real, dialogue and motivations are fantastic. Highly recommended, should be better known.

A beautiful love story, set amidst corporate greed; the ongoing battle for environmental future security over rich white men immediately getting richer; told within a narrative of Scottish folklore horror, with a touch of humour, a whole heap of heart, and some extremely gruesome body counts. Best horror I've read in the past 12 months. 5 out of 5 bananas!
