About this listen

Four friends, one murder, and a dark fate that may leave them all doomed....

After the mysterious death of their best friend, Ella, Yuki, and Rory are the talk of their elite school, Grimrose Académie. The police ruled Ariane’s death as a suicide, but the trio is determined to find out what really happened.

When Nani Eszes arrives as their newest roommate, it sets into motion a series of events that no one could have predicted. As the girls retrace their friend’s final days, they discover a dark secret about Grimrose - Ariane wasn’t the first dead girl.

They soon learn that all the past murders are connected to ancient fairy-tale curses...and that their own fates are tied to the stories, dooming the girls to brutal and gruesome endings unless they can break the cycle for good.

It starts out boring and tough to follow with so many non-distinct characters. Then i realised a few hours in, that this was yet another d!sn€y princess retelling (should have been obvious earlier tbh) that takes a similar approach as that Once Upon A Time TV series, character names slightly changed, storylines that have already been played out dozens of times before. I thought I paid for original content, the description and sample made the book seem much more interesting than the book actually is. This just feels like fan-fiction.
Then there's the narrator, she's a middle aged lady and sounds like it, not like a 16 year old girl, it throws off the vibe of the story a lot, then her accents are quite similar, not much difference between Hawaiian and Chinese accents? Nor much change when she switches between characters, so it all feels confusing.
I have four hours left and don't even want to continue.
I'm sure there are some people who'll enjoy it, especially fans of OUAT and d!sn€y
