Although, some of Orwell's arguments are dated, his style is worth emulating. Down and Out..., arguably his best non-fiction, is both confronting and illuminating at the same time. Homelessness is still a problem in every great metropolis and an evil that resists cure. Homage to Catalonia has informed many historians by providing an insider's account of the absurdities and murderous behaviour within the Republican side. On the whole, this edition is worth the effort.

Still brilliant after all these years
