About this listen

Fleeing a proposal and in search of a fortune, one headstrong young lady moves to London to play the high-stakes game of love. Catheryn Westering has no intention of marrying her respectable but boring cousin, Edmund Caston, and her aunt and uncle have no intention of giving her access to her newly discovered fortune. Daringly, she rushes to London to appeal to her distant, very attractive kinsman, the Earl of Dambroke, for help.

Before Dambroke knows it, she's become an essential part of his household: an eager participant in the London social whirl; a protege of his mother; a confidante to his spoilt sister and his mischievous younger brother; and a thorn in the masterful Earl's side. But London is a dangerous place, and although Dambroke frequently objects to Catheryn's "interference" in his family and social affairs, is it possible that, beneath his exasperation, much warmer feelings for Catheryn have already ignited?

I beautiful old-fashioned love story before we lost our manners. Men were men and women were learning to be bold 𝑖𝑛 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑟𝑖𝑔ℎ𝑡 𝑤𝑎𝑦!
Thank you Amanda Scott I love your style and the stories you tell are so interesting.

A lovely love story

Carmela Corbett has the perfect voice for storytelling and does justice to this genre and this well-written novel by Amanda Scott.

There’s an interesting mix of characters and subplots to this story which all develop along nicely. Despite differences in temperament, opinions and approach, it was refreshing to see 2 main characters challenge each other like respectful grown ups.

This is not a hot and steamy romance. There are no passionate kisses, dirty talk or any mention of private parts, so if that’s what you seek, this isn’t for you. For me, it was a nice departure from the usual fleshy romp (which I’m not adverse to!)

Excellent narration..enjoyable story

Amanda Scott produced another good gentle story that I enjoyed.
Carmela Corbett sounds very much like Keira Knightly when she reads with emotion.. a few times though she was obviously bored and she sounded monotonous and I struggled to stay focused

sweet story
