Story
When Van Tudor returns to his childhood home, he inherits more than the family farm. His grandfather used to tell him fantastic stories of spacemen and monsters, princesses and galactic knights. Little did Van realize, the old man's tales were more than fiction; they were real. Hidden beneath the old barn, Van’s legacy is waiting: a starship, not of this world. With his combat AI, an android bird named Perry, Van takes his first steps into the wider galaxy. He soon finds that space is far busier and more dangerous than he could have ever conceived.

Fantastic, fabulous, awesome
From the opening scene I was drawn into another world. The characters came alive within a solid storyline.
Glitches in audible had a couple of sections repeating which was annoying and off putting.
The narrator is great to listen to with a soothing voice, evenly spaced wording (not rushed) and the perfect tone. I listened non-stop for 12 hours with ease and excitement.
I have just purchased the next book in the series for tomorrow and can’t wait to begin the next chapter in this series to see what happens next.
Fabulous work highly recommended
A great read for the targeted age group also as it’s not explicit as many I have found in recent years

Frozen flame 1
I do like Athger did you have to make him so naive and clueless it’s a bit much, that being said l loved the books. Have continued to book 3 hopefully he becomes smarter and more intuitive. Prose, language performance absolutely brilliant thank you 🙏🏾

Voice
Concept is good, a nice easy story to follow. However, the narrators phrasing is really distracting - everything sounds the same. He has a good range of voices - but serious elements are jovial. Jovial dull. And a tendency to go up and the end- giving that eternal onset of a question!!!!

A long time going not very far.
The narrator sounds bored, and with good reason. It's good natured but tedious, perhaps suitable for early teens with a great deal of time but who are yet to develop critical faculties.

Hard listening
Maybe I’ve not given this book enough time but had to stop listening. The writing style was basic, not very descriptive and did not pull me.
