.........................

He's the best man . . . and that's the problem.

Kristen Petersen is perfectly fine. She has friends she'd fight to the death for and the very best dog in the world: Stuntman Mike. In fact, everything's calm in the world of Kristen, until she starts to plan her best friend's wedding and meets the best man, Josh Copeland.

Josh is funny, sexy, stands up to her sarcasm, and is always one snack ahead of her hangry. Even Stuntman Mike adores him. But he wants a big family, and Kristen knows children are probably not a part of her future.

She's sure he'd be better off with someone else, someone who can give him everything he wants, so Kristen keeps him at arm's length: in the Friend Zone. But as their attraction grows, it's harder and harder to resist falling for the man who seems to be everything she's not allowed to have . . .

I deeply respect what it means to write a good book and know that my frustrations in this story are probably signs of a captivating/emotive experience…but I agree with other reviews. The issues are repetitive and the consistent lack of communication and neurotic behaviour of the main character gets old. If anything, it triggered more thoughts of trauma bonding and how women can build an unrealistic idea of what men ‘should’ persist through if they love you. I found that highly frustrating. However, I still respect the evocative nature the author managed out of me.

The voice actors were a tad annoying. The constant intensity in their voice was a bit ott. MUCH preferred her other novels 😊

I love the way Abby writes her characters. They are so human and have real life struggles and yet there's humour and fun times too.

my new favourite author!

I loved the dynamic between the two main characters. They deal with some really tough issues, including fertility issues, so you may want to check the trigger warnings before reading. Bring your tissues, but expect laughter, love and a HEA along the way.

Also I know some reviewers have complained about the narration, personally I had no problems with it and liked both the narrators. Erin Mallon does lean a little heavy on the vocal fry, but it kind of suits Kristen's sarcastic tough-as-steel personality. Teddy Hamilton does a great job sounding like a hot fireman haha.

Beautiful

Loved the characters and fun banter. The main character got sooooo annoying with constant refusal. Yes she had some serious health issues, but the repetitive avoidance and leading the man on just became annoying and pathetic. The story went on way too long. The ending was predictable, which is to be expected with this kind of story, but I just wanted it to be over, listening felt like... come on just get on with it, you already know what is coming, you can tell from the beginning of the book. Not as good as other stories by this author.

Beautiful, heart breaking but frustrating and repetitive

I loved the storyline (I could relate) and Abby’s ability to tell it with humour, empathy, will never disappoint. I was just thrown by the female narrator unfortunately. Totally distracting - she had this weird way of hanging onto each word for a little too long.

Loved the story but ….
