I really enjoyed Fiona Macintosh's writing and the era she writes about. I find myself totally emersed in the characters in this story. The bravery of these people as they navigate such tragic losses penetrate into the soul. There is an energy that permeates the words that kept me riveted to the end. Although I didn't want an end it was more the framework for their futures which was ultimately optimistic.
