Publisher's Summary

At the top of his class at Harvard Law, he had his choice of the best in America. He made a deadly mistake. When Mitch McDeere signed on with Bendini, Lambert & Locke of Memphis, he thought he and his beautiful wife, Abby, were on their way. The firm leased him a BMW, paid off his school loans, arranged a mortgage, and hired him a decorator. Mitch McDeere should have remembered what his brother Ray - doing 15 years in a Tennessee jail - already knew. You never get nothing for nothing. Now the FBI has the lowdown on Mitch's firm and needs his help. Mitch is caught between a rock and a hard place, with no choice - if he wants to live.

Fantastic thriller

A classic to keep you on the edge of your seat. A fast passed but not ridiculous story which could almost be called a spy novel.

Entertaining, but problematic

Entertaining, but not without its problems. The protagonist was almost too perfect/superhuman, and part of the story were just not believable. If you don't look too closely at that stuff though, it's still quite enjoyable.

A must have

Once again this author just shines without fail.
Very quickly gets into an intriguing, unique aspect of the legal entities from an unthought of realm of intrigue, deception, intellectual smarts and arrogance.

Addictive Read

This was meant to be just a little book to get me through boring car journeys and tedious cardio, but I got so hooked I doubled my cardio time and started listening to it at home. Great story, I'll be getting another John Grisham book next!

Another Great Book

The Firm is the second novel of John Grisham after A Time To Kill that has become a huge bestseller. This ultimately placed him to become one of the best-selling authors in the world whose legal thrillers have become a must-read for many people in the world.

The Firm tells the story of a young lawyer and brilliant Harvard law graduate named Mictch McDeere. He joins a small prestigious law firm called Bendini, Lambert and Locke, who later he discovered to be part of the crime activities of the mob particularly that of the Morolto family. In it,we get to see McDeere try to go through complex actions as he tries to protect his family;outwit the mob and the partners of his law firm;cooperate with the FBI through within the boundaries allowed by his profession; and escape death from people who are trying to kill him.

The audio book is a mesmerizing novel as we get to see a high tension story and one will definitely cheer for McDeere to succeed in everything that he does. Also,it is worthy to mention that we have interesting characters in it and it is excellently written by Grisham as the story for once never dragged one bit.Unknowingly,we also get to learn a thing or two about the law particularly that of taxes and the profession of being a lawyer.Overall, this is a great purchase that will definitely delight the listener.

Scott Brick was outstanding with the delivery of the story

Grisham's best

John Grisham's Best book. Read it, watched film, listened to audio book. Not great literature (whatever that is) but a cracking good read and narrator for audio book very good.

Wow! That was a surprise.

Any additional comments?

I bought this on a whim as I had just been listening to Steven Kings book “On Writing” where he describes The Firm as worth a reading.

OK think I, it’s on special offer at £5.99 and I could do with listening to a good thriller and that is exactly what I got. 48 hours and a couple of marathon listens and I complete the audio book.

I had to find out what happened next every step of the way. I know there are lots of clichés blah, blah, blah, but as pure entertainment it is great. Trash but good trash. There is a reason why this is one of the all-time bestselling paperbacks and I will give another of his books a try.

Great story

Loved the story. Read the book years ago and decided to listen. Shame thé narrator felt the need to give every sentence an exclamation mark. He should get lessons in narration.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book

I’ve listened to John Grisham’s entire catalogue and this is one of my favourites. The build up is enjoyable and the ending is pleasing. Everything summed up. Great work!

Great book -

Keeps you thinking the whole way through. The ending could be a bit more detailed, it was built up a bit too much. Overall great!

Unlikeable main characters

...not that main characters HAVE to be likeable. But this book has no really likable characters. Its just nice to be able to root for someone. the narrator was mainly decent but he sounded like a Jewish grandmother who's main language is Yiddish whenever a question was asked. just sort of weird intonation.

Great story, Great plot!

As you'd expect from Grisham a superb and suspenseful story. Particularly liked the narrator when played a 1.35!
