Publisher's Summary

The bears were hungry and the panther was pacing her cage.

It was supposed to be a fun field trip to the wild animal safari. It became a nightmare of blood.

The zombie virus spread like wildfire and by noon, they were alone. Safe inside the fences, a group of school kids are the only survivors. Like the animals, they’ve lived their whole lives being cared for and fed, pampered, and loved. Now, they have to learn from each other how to survive, how to hunt, and how to kill.

Full of love, compassion, betrayals, and vengeance, this post-apocalyptic series is a unique adventure of bonding, friendship, and violence. Don’t threaten the children when the wolves are near.

Extraordinary story

An extraordinary story with a great cast of characters. This is a story from within the world of zombie road series. A group of children in a rural animal park been together and must survive the zombie apocalypse. Story will standalone by itself but it is born out of a few chapters in one of the zombie road books. As the zombie apocalypse takes affect the few adults that are around try to ban together and keep the children safe. Read on and see what happens. Children wild animals zombies oh my. You will not be disappointed also once again read by one of the best narrators out there. Perfect rhythm great variation of voices and inflections and makes you believe you are listening to all the different people in the story. Draws you in keeps you listening and does a great job as well.

A wonderful story on survival and triumph!

The Feral Children is an amazing story of chance and circumstance that brings a variety of children together to survive the zombie apocalypse. Thrust into a leadership position, a 14 year old has to grow up fast to keep the kids and the safari park animals safe. I loved how realistic the story is and I cannot wait for the second installment!!!

fantastic spin off from the main series

Children are often seen as helpless. This book proves you wrong. The story is a great one, lots of excitement and drama. Well written with a great narrator. Absolutely worth a read!

First time reader, impressed

First book from this author I've read and I am very much looking forward to tearing through the next installments in the series. Sounds like it's a spin off trilogy so can't wait to listen to the origin series too. Keep em' coming. There were quite a few characters so it was a bit tough to keep them all sorted at first but they were all interesting and worth cheering for and the antagonist made me want to throttle him throughout. I like the constant danger as the author was not shy about murdering off likable characters and how viscous the undead were. I hope they explore the world a bit more in the next book though.

Holy sh!t - that was a good book.

I usually avoid stories with a heavy animal theme because I am too affected if the animals die. Now, I’m not going to say no animals were harmed in the reading of this book, but it was not gratuitous nor too heartbreaking to continue on. I loved Simpson’s zombie road series and adored the first installment of this as well. Simpson poops literary gold and I am happy to scoop it up and jam it in my ears. Seriously read this book. You’re welcome.

Great collaboration

I started this new series after finishing Zombie road. I had a good idea of what to expect after being introduced in an earlier book. But boy is it so much better.

Really enjoyable zombie story

Really enjoyed listening to this book. Its not a scary zombie book, focuses more on how a group of children left alone in a zombie apocalypse come together to survive. Battling zombies, baddies and befriending animals.
