This is a book for working women and mothers who are ready to release the culturally inherited belief that their worth is equal to their productivity, and instead create a personal and professional life that's based on presence, meaning, and joy. As opposed to focusing on "fitting it all in", time management, and leaning in, as so many books geared at ambitious women do, this book embraces the notion that through doing less women can have - and be - more.

Story
The gap between what it's really like to be a woman and what people expect women to be is a primary cause of burnout, because we exhaust ourselves trying to close the space between the two. How can you 'love your body' when everything around you tells you you're inadequate? How do you 'lean in' at work when you're already giving 110 percent and aren't recognized for it? How can you live happily and healthily in a world that is constantly telling you you're too fat, too needy, too noisy and too selfish?

Publisher's Summary
A groundbreaking approach to wellness that will help you cut through the clutter and find the small shifts that create huge changes in your life, from the host of the podcast The Feel Good Effect
“An absolutely fresh and insightful guide.... If you’re looking to create more calm, clarity, and joy, this book is for you. (Shauna Shapiro, PhD, author of Good Morning I Love You)
What if wellness isn’t about achieving another set of impossible standards, but about finding what works - for you?
Radically simple and ridiculously doable, The Feel Good Effect helps you redefine wellness, on your own terms. Drawing from cutting-edge science on mindfulness, habit, and behavior change, podcast host Robyn Conley Downs offers a collection of small mindset shifts that allow for more calm, clarity, and joy in everyday life, embracing the idea that “gentle is the new perfect” when it comes to sustainable wellness. She then leads you through an easy set of customizable habits for happiness and health in mind, body, and soul, allowing you to counteract stress and prevent burnout.
Instead of trying to get more done, The Feel Good Effect offers a refreshingly sane approach that will allow you to identify and focus on the elements that actually move the needle in your life right now. Less striving. More ease. It’s time to feel good.
Critic Reviews
“Wildly practical and refreshingly unpretentious, The Feel Good Effect is a delightful toolkit to upgrade your life.” (Ashley Neese, breathwork teacher and author of How to Breathe)
“The Feel Good Effect is a refreshing guide to change, especially for anyone who struggles with perfectionism or self-criticism. Robyn Downs provides the perfect balance of science, practical strategies, and personal encouragement.” (Kelly McGonigal, PhD, author of The Willpower Instinct)
“Anyone can cheer you on, but few can help you change like Robyn Downs. So many of us know the type of life we want - happy, fulfilled - but the hard part isn’t always the what, it’s the how. With warmth, vulnerability, and stunning clarity, Downs upends our notions of what it means to be and do well, and offers actionable advice for anyone who is ready to change their mindset, and with it, their lives.” (Alicia Menendez, author of The Likeability Trap)

When I failed to apply any advice This one Worked for me!!!!! An Essential for everyone.
The author is such a beautiful human being, there’s something weird in how she presented the topics, that for the first time I’m able to make a change. She helps the reader to find their essential change that they need & the freedom to navigate and choose without complications, because it’s always simple and will be best when it’s choosen by You, while giving methods to keep these changes on track in a new and improved way of thinking and doing than the other books + adding joy to the equation. when I started to give a chance for one of her advices. It worked for me. It’s beautiful! Thank god she didn’t doubt herself to write that book at these times. I’m sure this is an essential read for anyone who feel they’re able to apply change or they’re struggling to do so. The book is so simple, not that long, & for sure effective! I Highly recommend it along with “The life changing magic of tidying” up by Marie Kondo. It got some of the magic of the mindset represented in this book as well. They’re good for a New Year.
