About this listen

Caleb: Nobody ever looks past the mask I wear. Not until I meet Jayden Harris, the adorably bossy scholarship student with a razor-sharp focus and an unbreakable determination to be the best of us all.

He says he doesn't have time for dating. He says I'm just a player. If I could prove to him that I'm worth falling in love with, he might change his mind. But asking him to be my fake boyfriend for a massive family gathering probably wasn't my greatest idea.

We're a lost cause, but I just can't let him go.

Jayden: It was just a one-time thing. And then a two-time thing. And a three-time thing. Before I know it, I'm in his fancy car, heading to the Wine Country for an extended weekend. My mission? Be the loving boyfriend you bring home to meet the parents.

I'm risking my scholarship and my future at the elite Highgate Academy for a charming stranger in need of a boyfriend. Why? I wish I could tell you. But there's more to him than I imagined.

I'm doing my best to convince everyone that we're a couple. But maybe I'd be wise to remind myself that we are not.

Contains mature themes.

Simple easy listening nothing really happens so if that’s what your looking for this is perfect.
It’s written like it’s supposed to be set 100 years ago so that’s a bit weird but you get used to it.
On the whole I enjoyed this book a lot

No triggers to warn you about either

Jayden Harris is a scholarship freshman at a prestigious college, determined to make the most of this rare opportunity. When he meets the trust-funded Caleb Ellison, the two seem unlikely to have much in common but the mutual physical attraction is unstoppable. One memorable night turns into many so when Caleb invites Jayden for the plush weekend family gathering as his fake boyfriend, Jayden jumps at the chance. While pretending to be in a serious relationship, Caleb hopes for more.

It took me a few goes to get into this one but something finally clicked and I mostly enjoyed the “poor little rich kid falls for the plucky poor kid” vibe. The subplot involving Caleb’s aggressively controlling father was also compelling. My only real gripe was the stilted dialogue, especially from Caleb’s family. It felt old-fashioned but hey, maybe that’s how some rich families talk. The chemistry was sizzling and the epilogue was satisfying. 🎧 I’ve enjoyed a lot of Jon Waters’ narrations, I like his precision and the way he emotes.

Sweet and sizzling rich vs poor college romance!
