About this listen

Nash Richards was my first everything. First boyfriend, first time, first love. First heartbreak, too.

In a former life, I used to religiously attend Lakeside U's hockey games. Then my ex-who-shall-not-be-named—the team's top defensive enforcer—cross-checked my heart into the boards, and I haven't set foot in that arena since.

But when fate conspires against me, I'm assigned to complete my senior athletic training internship with Nash's team, and forced to work closely with the only guy I've ever loved. You know, the one who skated out of my life without looking back.

After what happened last time, I know better than to fall for him again. Not to mention, there's a strict no-fraternization policy between trainers and their athletes. Problem is, our chemistry is hotter than ever—and he's determined to win me back.

Before we know it, the boundaries begin to blur until we can't see them anymore. But with so much on the line, I'm risking a lot more than just my heart this time.

I found this book hard to listen to due to the female narratior, her voice spoke in a child like manner when Via character was infact a 21 year old young adult.
furthermore, the story line was awesome.

Good book

What's with her constant panicked tone. Destroyed what could have been such a good story. Struggled to get through it but I did.

The female narrator's voice made this unbearable

I think the story was good and I enjoyed it overall. I struggled with the female narrators portrayal of the female lead. Violet sounds whiny and needy throughout the story. Her story line as a strong and kinky young woman who wants to reconnect with her first love, is lost and grated on my nerves. I really struggle to finish the book. Male narrator is great and redeems Violets voice when he takes on Nash and Violets conversations.

Narrator makes the female lead sound whiny and needy.

Female narrator

Almost DNF after a couple of chapters. Was hard to concentrate on story when female narrators voice was highly irritating. Infliction and tone was hard to listen to, especially when she started putting the inflection into the male character. Her voice for the friend was better and I suspect closer to her real voice.

Will not listen to the female narrator again

DNF. I loved this authors other hockey book “Offside” I also love a second chance story. But I just couldn’t finish this story. I made it 2/3 in because I really wanted to give it a chance but the female narrator was SO SO SO IRRITATING I couldn’t do it anymore. I’m not picky with narrators at all but this one just had the most annoying pitch and tone which just made the main character even more irritating. The story is boring, the characters are not likable they’re just exhausting. You find out pretty early on what the reason for their initial breakup was and it’s just stupid. Give this one a miss. I’ve read a lot of hockey college romances and I’d say this one’s the worst I’ve come across.

Narrator is like nails on a chalkboard

I unfortunately couldn’t continue to see what the story ended up being like. The female narrator was difficult to listen to and made the character incredible unlikable.

DNF due to terrible narration
