Publisher's Summary

In this audio edition of the totally revised underground best seller, The E-Myth, Michael Gerber dispels the myths surrounding starting your own business and shows how commonplace assumptions can get in the way of running a business. He walks you through the steps in the life of a business, from entrepreneurial infancy, through adolescent growing pains, to the mature entrepreneurial perspective, the guiding light of all businesses that succeed, and shows how to apply the lessons of franchising to any business, whether or not it is a franchise. Finally, Gerber draws the vital, often overlooked distinction between working on your business and working in your business. After you have listened to The E-Myth Revisited, you will truly be able to grow your business in a predictable and productive way.

Fluff and repetition

This book could be a quarter of the size if the overly emotional narratives and alliteration were removed. There are a few bits of helpful wisdom in there but one needs to wade deep through some heavy drivel.

Hard to keep listening to

It's really quite tedious, very repetitive and spends too much time on fluff style narrative talking about his own life experiences, but experiences that add very little value to the actual points he's making (if you can find the points!). The few points he does make could be knocked over in a much shorter time frame, if he got rid of all the fluff and nonsense. He's incredibly boring as a narrator and should have got a professional to do it. It's ridiculously long for no good reason.

Tedious. Hard to find the grain amongst the chaff.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

No. It is padded with multiple repetitions, multiple repetitive adjectives, and multiple repetitive examples.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Cut the repetition. Cut the repetition. Cut the repetition. Cut the repetition. Cut the repetition. Cut the repetition. Cut the repetition. Cut the repetition. Cut the repetition.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

Yes. Equally slow.

Could you see The E-Myth Revisited being made into a movie or a TV series? Who would the stars be?

No.

Any additional comments?

There are some good ideas. For which I happily pay double for the non-bloated version.

This sounds like the Hubbard management system

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

This book is good for people who don't have a clue about business, structure or organising their live.It is not good for people who have managed, know business skills or looking for an insight to gain an edge.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

I didn't find it interesting.

However this may be because I have an MBA and I have been a part of similar coaching Hubbard Management programs which I was not impressed with.

I have found the Hubbard Management system not to be in line with my beliefs or personal practices.

Some people may really respond to this story and the way they tell allegorical tales to illustrate the point.

The good key takeaway is build your business to sell, OR just be happy being employed.

Did Michael E. Gerber do a good job differentiating each of the characters? How?

The speaker told the tale well - reminded me of the old "read-along story time" voice actors. Great voice for radio. very nostalgic.

Did The E-Myth Revisited inspire you to do anything?

Focus on systems and reread my MBA notes on McDonalds and the franchise theory. There are better books out there for "franchise" models and building a business to sell which is the underlying theme of the book.

Any additional comments?

This book is not a bad book, I would recommend this to people who have read business books before or have any training in management. It is a great segue into understanding you don't know much about running a business. Maybe look to investing in an MBA or getting a business coach.

A must read for ANY business.

Being a marketing coach, I was unsure on how many systems in this book would apply to my business, ignorantly assuming that this was more for bricks and mortar business. I was wrong, the systems in this books apply to ALL businesses and was a great kick up the a** for me! ;)

Thanks for firing the rocket I needed up my behind!!!

What a great book to listen to when I was feeling how I was feeling, which was totally disenchanted about my career and unmotivated to do anything about it. This book gave me the kick up the butt that I needed to change my life. It has lifted the haze and made me realise how different things can be. I want to press play and listen to it all over again but I can't, I have a business to build!!!

Motivational with clear action steps

5*
This is one of the best audio books I have listened to and I would strongly recommend to anyone who runs a small business or who is thinking of starting one...I'm actually quite envious of you if you are able to absorb and action this information whilst you commence operations.
Great vocal performance.

This book changed my life

Being in my own small building business for 30 years and basically being self employed my whole life I was inadvertently doing bits and pieces in terms of having my business set up as a franchise with systems and procedures. However I was only just touching on these and did not have the knowledge to go further. This book has solved that problem. I’ve read it 3 times and no doubt a few more. I am so looking forward to my future small business life now and the massive changes that will make in my personal life.
