Publisher's Summary

Let me ask you a question: If someone is vying for your spot on a team and just so happens to injure you during practice, would you believe it was on purpose?

Word around campus is...it was no accident.

That injury has cost me everything - my starting position, my junior year, and the draft. Now, I’m a senior fresh off recovery, struggling to find my groove, until the day I run into a nervous, fidgety girl with freckles in the dining hall.

They call Milly Potter "The Baseball Whisperer", "The Diamond Wizard", and "The Epitome of All Knowledge". She believes in baseball. She breathes it. She’s the queen of an infamous dynasty, but no one actually knows who she really is, and she plans to keep it that way.

One mishap in the panini line, one miscommunication in the weight room, and many failed attempts at an apology equal up to one solid truth: Milly Potter never wants to speak to me again, no matter how good my forearms look.

Little do we both know, she’s about to become more than just my fairy ball mother.

Fun, charming and a bit emotional!

I had the opportunity to listen to The Dugout by Meghan Quinn and just loved it. Sebastian York and Samantha Peachwood were perfect as Carson Stone and Milly Porter and brought their journey to life for me. Carson has lost his mojo after losing his spot on the baseball team after an injury. This is his last chance and he knows it. Who would have thought the girl in the panini line, the girl he somehow insulted, would be the answer he needed. I loved watching Carson and Milly interact and how he truly saw her when no one else did. Milly was smart and fierce, if a bit awkward at times. But when it comes to baseball, she knows her stuff and can take on any baseball player, including Carson Stone. Carson was always the likeable guy, but after his injury, he was a bit lost. Then this little spitfire comes into his life and changes everything. I loved their back and forth and watching them fall, but when tragedy strikes, will Carson lose it all? Such a fun and charming read that was a bit emotional and had all kinds of feels. Happy listening!

The Dugout

Bahahaha the text messages from the guys is hilarious. I loved the back and forth with all these characters. Milly is too sweet I love that she stutters and stammers when she is nervous. Her relationship with her family is awesome I really enjoyed this part of the book. She is real and easy to like. Carson is a lovable guy but also very serious at times and baseball he takes seriously. He is perfect for Milly I like how he was shy-ish too. He loves her friendship just as much as she does and I liked that he made the first move to more. Great freaking narration, both of these narrators are personal favorites of mine.

A Sports Romance!

This story has interconnected characters with The Locker Room. This is a great sports romance. Milly and Carson's story is well written, sweet, fun, sexy, and emotional. Milly is beautiful, sweet, smart, caring, and very supportive. She has a wonderful personality. Carson, a baseball player, is handsome, and sexy. I like their banters, and their slow burn story. They are perfect together. The story has a heartbreaking twist, but the ending is heartwarming and beautiful. The supporting characters are great. I love the friendship in this story. Emory's parents and her brothers are wonderfully supportive. Savannah Peachwood and Sebastian York did a great job with the narration. I enjoyed it.

Milly and Carson are perfect!

Excellent story and I really loved all of the characters.  This book had lots of humor, sexiness and emotion with a really good balance of each. The characters very likeable and I became very invested in their story. Towards the end, there is a gap where they are separated for a time which really ticked me off. That being said, I did enjoy the hell out of this book. I just didn't really understand Carson's separation. Also not happy that Milly forgave Carson so easily after so long. Both Savannah Peachwood and Sebastian York were absolutely amazing in this book. Very good at differing their voices well for the different characters and really performed Milly and Carson perfectly.

Great story with awesome narration, must listen!

I absolutely loved The Dugout! One minute I was laughing, the next I was swooning and the next I was on fire! Carson and Millie are totally addictive, once you start you can’t stop and you will be head over heels for both of them before you know it. Millie, the shy sister to 3 brothers (one the infamous baseball star Cory Potter) never in her wildest dreams thought she would catch the eye of Carson Stone, one of Brentwood University’s most promising ball players. But not only did she catch his eye, she brought back his mojo while breaking down his heart along the way. The chemistry between these two characters is sizzling, full of teasing and sarcasm. I adored listening to them fall in love. Sebastian York brought some major feels with this one, the heart wrenching moments in this story were perfectly portrayed in his voice. I was close to tearing up myself as he navigated the waters of Carson and Millie’s journey. Samantha Peachwood is an incredibly accurate choice for Millie bringing the perfect mixture vulnerability and sass needed for her character throughout the storyline. Although she may be fragile at times she’s is a tough cookie and stands her ground when Carson comes back groveling. Ultimately this book was about finding and admitting the basic need of love, family and the simple act of having someone cheer you on in the stands. You don’t have to always do things on your own, it’s okay to lean on those around you.

Love this rom-com

This was so fun to read, I love Meghan Quinn humor. Milly and Carson are a beautiful couple with a story that had me reading non-stop. I laughed and my heart was squeezed through the story. A great sport romance story you need to read and feel. The emotional rollercoaster from this book is one you need to get into. A beautiful sweet story full of forgiveness and commitment. Samantha Peachwood and Sebastian York made this audiobook so much fun, definitely a fantastic job.

Great narration of a Meghan Quinn sports romance

Love this latest from Megan Quinn. Sebastian York and Samantha Peachwood delivered great performances as Millie and Carson. Millie is a shy but sharp female lead, and she really makes her man work for it! Nearly broke my heart, but of course Meghan Quinn put it back together again beautifully.

Carson

What a gooey pile of everything. But he definitely didn’t start that way. And Milly. I love that she didn’t wanna cash in on her family name. I loved their connection and her awkwardness. Lots of laughs out loud, a few tears. Meghan Quinn always gives us Grade A romcoms.

Meghan Quinn hits another one out of the ball park

For some reason when this book first came out, I didn’t join into the blog tour for it. So while home on quarantine, I ended up ordering my own paperback copy to read. Then a chance to listen to the audiobook came up, and it was right before my trip to Branson, so I signed up for that, and was able to listen to it on my drive down. But I brought my paperback with me, for when I wasn’t in the car and could read when I wasn’t listening. Either way, reading or listening, it was just as good as any other book in the series. What I loved of course was visiting with characters that were from other books. Like Knox’s mom, or Mama G! And then all the boys we’ve met from the other books, especially my favorite Jason, and of course Millie’s brother Cory. But Millie was awesome. I mean, while I am in no way like her in her love and knowledge of all things having to do with baseball, so much of her behavior is me. Like when she compared herself to Baby in Dirty Dancing when she said “I carried a watermelon”, that is me. So many times I do that. Always when there are guys that are cute, or that I’m attracted to. But then, there was the cookie moment, oh my gosh! I was laughing so hard as I listened while I was driving. I’m sure anyone who was driving around me thought I was crazy. Now, one thing that was different for me than with the other books in this series, the moment when the author usually takes and rips my heart out didn’t hit me quite as hard this time. It wasn’t as insurmountable for me for some reason. Not to say I didn’t have a few tears streaming down my face at times, but I wasn’t quite as devastated. And that’s not a bad thing really, because hey, how many times can Meghan Quinn rip my heart out and then me keep putting it back in at the end? Except, I’ll continue to let her do it, because I love her stories so much! The narrators for this audiobook were good. Of course I always love Sebastian York, even if his voice is usually more of a serious, dark romance interest in my mind. And I hadn’t heard the other one before, or at least I don’t think I have? Samantha Peachwood, but she was good and fit perfectly for what I’d imagined Millie sounding like.

L-O-V-E-D!!!!

My very first listen/read by Meghan Quinn and I was crying. Like legit ugly crying and I didn't even see it coming. Everything was rolling along perfectly and then bam, a twist of events. Its totally worth the listen. There was funny banter, some very fanning myself steaminess, lovable characters, and complete tear jerker moments. I didn't want to stop listening at all, I wanted to know how everything ended up so badly. Carson is everything, just a complete dreamboat, even though sometimes I was completely frustrated with him. Milly is adorable and stunning, seriously, her personality is addicting. These two together are off the charts, just the perfect clash of chemistry in every way. A definite must listen! The narrators are just phenomenal at bringing these characters to life!

Hilarious!

I've listened/read all four Brentwood boys books (The Locker Room, The Dugout, The Lineup, and The Trade) and I've enjoyed them all. They're all hilarious, heartwarming, and unputdownable. This though, by far, is my favorite, and it being narrated by one of my favorite narrators, Sebastian York, probably has something to do with it! Sebastian York and Savannah Peachwood did a wonderful job narrating this book. I haven't read the ebook version, but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have found it as steamy had I read this book instead of listened; I probably wouldn't have laughed my head off during the part with the cookie either! This book comes after The Locker Room but part of it shares the same timeline. I want to "go back" and reread The Trade since we see Cory a lot in this book. It's his sister's story, after all. The Dugout is a slow burn, friends-to-lovers contemporary sports romance written in dual first-person POV and recorded in dual narration. It's a standalone that ends with a HEA. No cliffhanger, no cheating. I received this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review.

Carson and Milly!

Carson is a star college baseball player who was destined to be drafted into the MLB until an injury by a teammate leaves him on the sideline. As he watches his friends get drafted he fears his dreams are in jeopardy as he may have healed physically but his game has become more of a strike out than a home run. Milly was raised in a family where baseball was everything. She knows more about the game than most players and is determined to find success as a trainer on her merits and not because of her heritage. She sees Carson is struggling and believes she can help him but all he sees is a quiet, nerdy woman who is in no position to give him advice. He soon realizes that there is much more to her than first appears and the transformation that comes over her when she talks about baseball is startling. He realizes that she is the best thing to ever happen to his game, but will he realize that she is the best thing that could happen to him as well? This is a friends to lover story filled with hot chemistry, witty banter and just enough angst to have you invested in Carson and Milly’s happy ever after. I received a complimentary copy of the audiobook and the narrators bring out all the humor, heat and heart of this story in spades.

Sport rom-com

Cute rom-com sports romance. I was so into the first half of this story and hero breaking down heroines walls and wiggling his way into her life....the second half I was kind of disappointed with where the story went and felt it somewhat unnecessary to their love story. However, the narration in audio as always sebyo and Samantha Peachwood was fantastic.

Delicious Sports Romance

I read the book when it was first released and thoroughly enjoyed it but listening to audio was a totally different experience. Listening to the audio I have fallen even more in love with Carson and Milly's story. Carson is down on his luck and no one is safe from his wrath. A chance encounter with Milly has her in the firing line of Carson's anger. One thing leads to another and it is evident that Milly could be just the person to turn things around for Carson. But has Carson already burnt a bridge that can't be mended. The emotions that Samantha and Sebastian were able to evoke were shattering. Loved this audio book and I'd highly recommend it.

The best of the best!

So I know I haven't really mentioned much about The Dugout but expect what you have come to love from Meghan Quinn. If you loved Knox and were just plain positive no one could ever beat him in the swooniest department (hahaha), Carson is amazing in all his broody (understandable) glory. I still don't know which one I adore more. It might come down to which one would win in a fist fight!! Anyway, expect Quinn to charm your pants right off!! Speaking of, I'm not even going to go into the sexy times because good Lord does this woman give me the wiggles!! These characters are beyond characters. I'm smitten with them all and I am THRILLED to see we're going to get a little treat at the end of the month with a quick novella on Holt in The Strikeout. I'm dying for his mysterious story!! Samantha Peachwood and Sebastian York were just EVERYTHING! I mean, it might be easier to list the things I didn't love than to tell you all about the amazingness of their voices. Really, there wasn't a thing for me to even consider complaining about in this audiobook. It's everything I absolutely LOVE about Quinns books and everything I love from these narrators! I'm jealous of all you people out there that get to listen to this audiobook for the first time.

I’m so in love with this couple!

This was such a laugh out loud story to listen too. But it also has some emotional moments too. It was a second chance, for quirky nerd girl Milly, and the sweet sporty guy Carson. I'm fairly new to audiobooks and I thought these narrators did a great job. I would listen to The Dugout again.

Amazing

This book is sweet, sexy and a whole lot of sad. To say that Samantha and Sebastian absolutely nailed the audio doesn’t seem enough. I was on the verge of tears listening to some of the latter parts. I had to take a few breaks to sort my head because.... well, it got to me. It was AMAZING.

😭❤️ ⚾️

I have a brand spanking new favorite sports romance. As my first Meghan Quinn book I wasn’t sure what to expect. This was an amazing intro to her and I’m not going back! It’s cute, swoony, hilarious and then bam so much emotion. I actually cried during this listen, but I’m so glad she was able to put my broken heart back together. Such an amazing book. Will recommend always! ❤️
