About this listen

Also titled Lost.

Vincent Ruiz is lucky to be alive. A bullet in the leg, another through the hand, he is discovered clinging to a buoy in the River Thames, losing blood and consciousness fast. It takes six days for him to come out of his coma and, when he does, his nightmare is only just beginning. Because Vincent has no recollection of what happened and nobody believes him.

A mile away from his body, a boat was found covered in blood... Vincent's and that of three others. Forensics say at least one of them must be dead. Vincent, a police detective, had signed his service pistol out of the station armoury, despite being on leave. Many murder suspects fake amnesia and the investigating team are not sure this case is any different. The only clue is a picture in his pocket, a photograph of a young girl, Mickey Carlyle, who disappeared three years ago. And though Mickey is presumed dead, Vincent has the nagging doubt that she is alive and in terrible danger.

I wish books had content warnings. Aside from that, great story. I preferred the 2 main charcters as voiced in the previous book ' the suspect'.

warning:contains 1 scene of cruelty to animals

I love most of Michael Robotham’s books but this one was very confusing. I had to keep winding it back to try and keep up with the story

I quite enjoyed this book but after listening to Sean Barrett narrate most of the other Michael Robotham books I found it difficult to relate to the accents of Ruez & Joe. It just didn't seem to fit!!

A Good Book.

i have many Michael Robotham books and usually love them. this book less so. It was the narration that spoiled it for me. i listen to talking books in the car and missed large chunks of the narrative because the narrator often spoke in a low level mutter, probably for dramatic effect but it was just very irritating and hard to follow.

Narration spoiled it

I found this book a little disjointed in the story line. Sometimes difficult to keep up. Sometimes I had to go back a few pages to follow

Not his best

Perhaps I was pre occupied but this book didn’t absorb me as other books by Michael Robotham have.

Didn’t get into it as I have other books by Robotham

I did not enjoy this book. At times I couldn’t follow the story and didn’t feel any rapport or empathy for the characters.

Disappointed

I am a fan of this author, but this book was dreadful with a convoluted plot, too many characters, no suspense (like, I didn’t care about the characters), highly improbable story line (diamonds in sewers). Disappointed. I didn’t bother finishing it.

Dreadful
